.204 vs .223

I just picked up a Savage Axis .223. I wanted a .243 for the longest time for Coyote hunting. This deal came up and I snatched it. Its up to you though both are great :)

.223 because of heavier bullets. My idea of a perfect coyote gun is a .243/6mm. I think coyotes are very tough animals, so I like heavier bullets. The .204 is fine, but I believe that if you shoot it enough, you will find it just a little light sometimes. You will feel that far less with a 223.

.223 because of low price and availability over the counter... plus I shot the nato equivalent in the forces.... that being said, if I was a reloader I would go 22-250....

I have at least one of each of these, 223, 222, 22-250, 6mm Rem and 204. I take the 204 out for coyotes more than all of the others combined. I find the 204 way more fur friendly than the 223 and better range than the 222. If I don't care about saving a hide because it is not prime anymore the 6mm comes out of the safe.

204 is deadly, out to 500 yds.Thats long enough range for me,how about you?

Can it do this?

Thanks for the info .204 is pelt friendly and like you said when the hide don't matter then 300 wsm comes out for me.

Currently using a 204 with 32 gr, bullets, fur friendly and also great on gophers. Will get another 22-250 when the right one comes my way, but have never owned a 223. If fur isn`t an issue and i want long range my 264 mag comes out to play.
