You are sooo wrong... Trail cameras are great...
My mistake, we can't use 'em (I could be wrong) up here, so I forget what an asset they can be to hunting. Not exactly the type of camera in the context I was responding to, but good one, you got me.

My mistake actually... That was tongue in cheek... I just forgot to throw in the token "lol"...![]()
If hunters cant go to the hunting forum to escape anti hunting bulls**t, where else is there left to go.

Caught the tounge in cheek, but you are correct. I like seeing pics from trail cams either the one that got away or the one that's gonna get it tomorrow.
Our game here is not habitual enough to use them and it is unlawful for us to feed or bait anything here, in the Yukon. Hence we just don't have an application for them here. Caught a couple lionesses trying to get my leopard bait in Zambia though those were some cool pics.
Most ducks don't grow horns anyways though so conversations about big game barely apply to me.

Without throwing you under the bus (yet) I would like to add that this forum is not OT and its not the News forum nor the discussion forum. Its the hunting forum. ITs primarily for those that hunt, want to hunt, like hunting..are s**t at hunting or watch hunting on tv...whatever.
Its a hunting forum for discussion of pro hunting topics.
Its not a forum to trash hunting and post what are arguably anti hunting type posts.
We can have that done in other forums such as OT if necessary. Hunting is under alot of pressure from hypocritcial leather wearing burger eating communists.
Hunting should not be under pressure on this forum. This should be a place where people feel they can talk about hunting topics free of ridicule and discussions of ethics and anti hunting type sentiments.
I get that trophy hunting is considered by some on CGN as controversial. Thats fine. How bout have a post about it in OT next time and not on the hunting forum.
If hunters cant go to the hunting forum to escape anti hunting bulls**t, where else is there left to go.
So there you have it.
If you dont want the opinion then dont ask for it. Am i to understand that CGN is primarily a hunting forum? As thats what i meant when i said that this forum is about more then hunting. I know there are different sections of CGN and if thats what you are referring too then by all means ill stay out of his hunting forum so he can have happy thoughts.
I have to say I agree 100% with what Ardent said here....either for trophy or meat, it's the hunt that makes the memories not the kill.
cheers
I think you're getting a little confused. CGN is what's called a web site, which contains discussion forums on various topics which are firearm related. This happens to be the hunting forum of CGN, where we discuss.............. you guessed it, hunting.
Got it now?![]()
My bad, didnt know that I had to agree with anything a Trophy hunter says for fear of being called Anti Hunting. I am not anti hunting at all, no matter how these guys try to spin it. I just dont agree with their kind of hunting, and there is nothing wrong with stating your opinion on that as in this case the op asked for it.

This is so true and an aspect I have yet to touch on, when I walk into my trophy room and look around at my "boys" I can relive every moment and detail of each and every hunt and all the neat stuff I saw and did on each hunt. It's just not the same, opening the freezer to garner a fond memory.
I can honestly say my life would be much less without having done the hunting I have so far and that which I still plan to do. It is truly part of that which defines me and who I am and is part of my very soul, as such it is not something I can explain or justify to another who doesn't feel this same thing. My brothers have become evident in this thread, as have those who do not feel this way. I have not, nor will I ever critisize the table hunter, but I feel sorry that he will never feel what I feel towards hunting and my quarry.
Hunting as I do it reaches a depth within me that I can never adequately express, the writer quoted earlier equated it with a religious experience and I fully comprehend and appreciate his meaning. The kill is an integral part of this whole experience, but it and it alone doesn't make a hunt. There are those out there who pen shoot in Texas and SA and call themselves hunters however they are merely collectors of heads and I feel sorry for them too. They will never experience what I have either.

With all due repect doug... My goal in life (among others) is to get to your level of quarry predator... I make good money... But will never make enough based on other choices I have made... I can live with that... my only hope is to truly target the species I want based on the trophy, meat and above all, experience... Right now cape buffalo tops my list...
My advice to you is to realize that those who criticize don't have the funds or capacity to imagine what could be... They will never understand...
I have a friend who manages a conservancy with a lot of Cape Buffalo, he management hunts over-mature bulls from time to time to weed them out of the gene pool and let the fresh genetics in to breed. These are good bulls, you won't take a 40"+ but old old hard bossed 36" is very doable, which in Cape Buffalo terms is a very respectable animal today. If you're interested in making a plan it can be done for a lot less than you think, for as little as a guy on an average job can scrimp together in savings in a single year. Received your PM, all good, sorry short on time to reply and want to waste it arguing in this thread.![]()
If the hunt makes the memories, why pull the trigger?????The kill makes the memories!!!
