sharon matches

No, that's meets the requirements for a level 2, check your rules. Why would I have a 90 round level 1 when I could have a 90 round level 2. That makes no sense.

A match with 90 rounds is also a level 1

It is very simple.
You are not attending matches which you believe do not reflect your values. Some people do not mind to drive 120km both ways to shoot 45 rounds and that is why we have matches with 45 rounds.

I must also warn you, if you come to Alliston for our little level I match you need to bring 2x45 plus extra in case.

Peter, the difference is Sharon has bigger range then Alliston and they are running smaller matches.

Like you said, it is not worth the drive for me. Actually I don't think Alliston worth the drive for me either, because I don't think that putting many targets on such a small range makes sense. There should be a balance. Obviously it is all different for people who live closer.

Eugene,
balance is a right word. Between both of us we have attended many matches and we know there must be a return for time and money invested in going to the match. I can go to the match to learn something, to practice before bigger match, to have fun among my friends and so on. Driving for few rounds long distance is hard to justify financially, however if people willing to do so, all power to them. Also my hat goes down to anyone who likes to organize IPSC match in Ontario.

And that's the point, range 1 is actually pretty small and I'm not going to jam a bunch of crappy target presentations in and make a crappy match just to have a high round count. These are sanctioned level 1, CLUB level matches, we aren't looking for people to travel 120km to attend, we're hoping to get more local club members out who can't normally get into matches and get to see their scores posted.
Fwiw I just drew up the stages and it looks like the April match will be 48 rounds and 3 stages

check the online sign up you will see matches of 90 round and listed as a level 1:confused:

Yup, and I think that's absolutely a waste. Why go the effort to put on that size of match and only make it a level 1. The RO's get screwed out of the points they should have earned, and the shooters pay way too much $ for a match that is only classified as a level 1.

:agree: the price of gas dictates where I will shoot now. If it's worth it then I go.

So what...

I'd rater shoot 45 quality rounds...that 90 rounds of...plant my feet...shoot 8 rounds...move to the right...plany my feet...shoot 8 rounds...yada yada yada...

It's not total rounds...it's total quality rounds...

The quality of the match is not deteremined by the total number of rounds...anything to the contarary is just watering down the sport.

And that's exactly what we are aiming for.

so your telling me that most high round matches are poorly set up

So, what you've got now? 2 standing speed shots and a field or medium course?

We saw 3 good medium courses (almost field courses) fit at the first range in Sharon in the past. Then the round count would be over 60...

This conversation leads nowhere. Next you gonna hear is ..."what is your involvement' and so on.
Match organizers can do, upto certain level, almost whatever they want. They run what they believe and that is fine. For me worse is when they trying to say that this should be a norm or having 90 rounds Level I doesn't make sense.
I like high round matches and not I do not like howsing 10 feet stages, but most of our ranges are easy to accommodate outdoor level I match with 80-100 rounds count.

You should now by now I don't do many standing stages, even shorts require movement.
As for round count I have never gone above 45-50 rounds per bay, that's why our level II matches are around 90 rounds...2 bays x 45 rounds
If there were 3 mediums in the past and the max round count for a medium was 16 rounds, what's your total?

You should also know by now that my stages are based around hypothetical scenarios in which a pistol may be used in a practical manner.

And yet...if a MD decides to do a club level match on a Tuesday night with classifiers only....some ipsc members jump and down screaming bloody murder if they can't attend because we only (hypothetically) want club members to get classified....and (hypothetically) we have to stay later to accommodate said hair pullers....(hypothetically) of course....and these jumping up and down hair pullers (hypothetically) drive way more than the 120 kms they are complaining about on this thread).....hypothetically of course!

Wow...I am glad I am not bitter..otherwise this whole situation would bother me!
