Shorten PAL Approval Times

site is still working fine, however I've been trying to call them past few days but do to technical difficulties your call cannot be transferred when I try and speak to someone about my license application status

well... typically because I said something on here about my status not changing... it does... :D

anyone know if they're taking their time on data entry for applications???
they received my RPAL app on Mar 29th and its still not up.. just talked to a "Brenda" who was noticeably annoyed with my phone call

FYI

I called today and was told they were 3 weeks min from receiving mail to opening and starting process.
They seem to be busier than usual.

I dropped my cell and needed to change the daytime number to work.
She said watch for my app to go online, then call.

Applying for rpal from Quebec. I have been waiting since it was showing as received received in mid Jan. Called to see if all paper work was in order and was told that all initial processing was done but that rpals take longer (all that was required was to contact my references who have not been contacted yet).

Does anyone have an idea of what a normal timeline for a Quebec rpal is?

Happy update! To answer my own question it took 3 months almost to the day to get my rpal issued in Quebec. :)

All right.. so here is my timeline up to this point...

March 3rd - took course and challenged exam for PAL
March 9th - took course and challenged exam for RPAL

March 22nd - completed application and gathered signatures.
March 23rd - sent application via registered mail.
March 28th - application received and signed for in Miramichi, NB.

April 18th - application shows up online (stating the missing exam results)
April 19th - receive the stamped PAL exam results in the mail.

So as others have stated it seems to be taking three weeks for the application to appear online. As for the exam results I am still waiting for my RPAL info to come back. I am thinking by the end of this week... getting closer!!!

So here is my timeline

March 10 non-restrected
March 17 Restricted
March 20 sent in application with test results
April 13 application showed up online saying recieved on march 26th
April 20 called in did iterview and had references call it as well
April 23 checked online says licence has been issued

My Timeline

Feb 7/8- Took CFSC+CRFSC
Feb 27- Filled out application arrives and signed for at CFC
Mar 12 (?)- Test results received from Ontario CFO
Mar 23- Test results faxed to CFC
Mar 30- Interview complete, first reference interview complete
Apr 17- Second reference interview complete
Apr 17- Status updated to issued
Apr ??- License in hand!!

It's a royal pain when the CFC is only open 9-5 and a reference works the exact same hours. My second ref had to kill most of a lunch break on hold and asking questions so consider the schedules of the people you ask to be references is my advice.

Wow, 28 days to get your app approved. It must be a west coast thing, because I am on day 32, all interviews have been completed and still waiting for the status to change to approved online. I will be calling them by wednesday if it has not been approved yet.

Yeah I was pretty excited to see that this morning. It may of helped that I called and asked very politely if there was anything I could do to help them will my application, so they gave me the extension # and my application # so my references could call in which really made a difference. Now the real waiting game.

Good job, Congrats!

I'm in a bit of a holding pattern myself it seems??

Like you, my application was recieved March 26th, I called last week to check in and they said everything was not input yet and to call back this week. I just called in this afternoon and was in the process of being transfered for the interview and the lady came back on and said that only my test results were scanned in but the rest should be done in the next day or two. She told me to call back Wednesday so I will try again then. It's only day 28 today so atleast I am past the waiting period so whenever they get their stuff together it should be good to go. Waiting sucks, I must say!

So my application just showed up online. I will be keeping you all updated, as I have some variables that could make things interesting. Namely, I have an ex-girlfriend that corresponds to their definition of a breakup of a significant relationship, so we'll see how this affects everything. She did not sign the application. I do not have her home address. Also, this is a Québec application for a RPAL. Here goes:

  • 11th of February: Passed CRFSC
  • 25th of February: Passed CFSC
  • 23rd of March: CRFSC and CFSC results on hand (I know, I shouldn't have waited)
  • 26th of March: Sent application via the Sûreté du Québec (In Québec, all applications must be mailed by a police officer. Ergo, they are sent by regulair mail)
  • 2nd of April: Application received (as per CFC)
  • 23rd of April: Application shows up online
  • ???? : Personal interview complete
  • ????: First reference interview complete
  • ????: Second reference interview complete
  • ????: Ex-girlfriend interview complete (Theoretical)
  • ????: Québec CFO approval
  • ????: RPAL issued?

End is in sight.
