This is my first AR purchase, I have no idea about it, is it OK?

the NEA bolt carriers I have seen prior,
and the bolt carrier on my norq AR
all have a stake mark on either side of both screws
my guess:
maybe you got one the guy with the staker forgot to turn around and do the other side on

people churning out hundreds of parts a day can do this sometimes...

phone up NEA and talk to them,

for what its worth the single stake looks to be deep enough,

gun wouldnt be unsafe, obviously it takes less torque to break one stake then two, but just ask NEA,

It's fine.

If you look on the 2 main AR15 sites, there are manufacturers who don't stake their gas keys at all, and won't work on BCG's that have staked keys.

Tks a lot, will talk to them. Not shoot it yet, maybe put 400 rounds then look at it again.

Honestly, from the picture I can't see of the material from the BCG is actually pushed up against the bolt for the keys. It looks sort of like both are just dimpled. If that is the case, I don't think the staking is correct.

If the BCG material is pushed against the bolt, then it should be fine. I would say shoot it a bunch and see. You will be able to tell if the bolt heads turn. If not, you are G2G.

FWIW, it is not typical. If it were my AR15, I would re-stake the carrier from the sides like the M14/M4 TDP specifies because it's proven and known to be adequate.

If NEA is shipping all guns like this, I would humbly suggest a course-correction to them. Stake identically to everyone else.

The bolts are torqued to 56ft/lb at assembly and require an average of 82ft/lb torque to remove with the staking. It is sufficient.

The majority of our carriers are not staked in this manner, but have been inspected/tested.

I am saying that they have been inspected and tested and meet the required specification. In fact they exceed the torque requirements in both assembly and removal. It is a visual issue that you have a problem with, not a spec or performance one.

... it's a ARC+ nitrided carrier group that exceeds the specs of almost everyone else's product and at that we retail it for $129, well below what anyone else does. And still people want to complain.

Again, if someone has issue with one of our products and wishes to bring it to us direct, we have our own board here and several email addresses. If you just want a dog and pony show then we don't have the time.

Most people I am sure are used to seeing metal contacting the gas key screws in 2 places on each screw which is why the staking job is being questioned. If it works without it and it won't back out then I'm sure there won't be an issue.
