Expensive black rifle owners help a guy out! If I had say 2-3k to spend on a black rifleNON-RESTRICTED, wich one would you have me buy?? I would like to have a more powerful round like the 308, but would probably be ok with a 223.

I love the look of the bull-pups(mainly RFB and Tavor) but would like something with decent accuracy, 1moa too much to ask? whats the deal with XCR? any good? What kind of reliability/accuracy are you guys getting from your XCR's, swiss arms, rfb, tavor, etc.

I would like owners to sound off about whats worth the 2-3 grand that ill have to drop to get myself into the nice black rifle market, so that i can make the right decision! Im not going to be doing my own handloads anytime soon, so reports with store bought ammo is highly appreciated. Cheers!

If you want something that can shoot one moa and is nonrestricted.... Your best choice will be a Swiss arm.

Brief summary of some of the NR semi guns:
ACR - it's a good gun and shoots quite well, but lack good support from the dealers (also, it's made by shrubmaster)
Tavor - really fun gun, not exactly a moa gun. the trigger can be a deal breaker, but I'm fine with it.
XCR - played with them a few times. Didn't like the fast stock. Not a big fan of the gun, other wise, it's a good gun
RFB - never had one or will own one. The one my friend had cannot properly eject brass out... And has a few issues that requires te gun to be sent back to the store.
Swiss Arm - accurate, fun, but you don't want to carry it around unless you have no problem lifting 30 reps of 40kg weights

i have both rifles you mentioned... i would get the Tavor before the RFB hands down.. but if your really set on 308 the RFB is still pretty cool. personally I would get the Tavor and a nice little Remington 700 in 308 and call it a day.. use the search function and look for XCR-M and RFB for 308's and look at Tavor, Swiss Arms, XCR-L, ACR, FS2000, AR180B, and MR1 for 5.56... thats where i would start.

good luck

swiss arms really heavy hey?? good to know, see these are the types of things im looking for first hand from owners, pros and cons and such, appreciate it. And theres probably lots of threads like this.... I should probably just youtube it or look deeper into the threads, but i figure most people like talking about their uber nice expesive gear anyway!

All the n.r black rifles have their strong points. So the question is, what is it you plan to do with the rifle, what are your shooting and maintance habbits?

I have an XCR, no reliability issues for me so far. I got it used under $2k, so you may save some money by going with a quality used model. Just check the serial number with Robinson Arms to make sure it has all the latest upgrades as they have gone through several generations of trigger and a few other parts. Wolverine Supplies is the Canadian Distributor, and they seem to have used ones fairly often too.

The XCR is slightly heavier than your average AR-15, but that's because the upper is all metal and all one piece, no replacing hand guards on these, and monolithic quad rails add a bit of weight.

Your other option is to give it a few months and see if our Conservative government is serious about making the AR-15 non-restricted. This could really open up the market for you as $3k buys a beautiful AR, likely with optics.

I've owned all of the 5.56mm (.223) rifles mentioned, and the Swiss Arms are the best, hands down. The full size rifle is not that heavy. Definitely not what people make it out to be.

I love my Tavor but it isn't super accurate. I haven't got a chance to run many differant ammo types through it and the best groups I can get with Federal Tactical .223 55gr FMJ is around 4 inches at 100 yards but that's me and I'm not a very good shot. I have some 75gr 5.56 I am going to try.

Other than that though I love my Tavor. I take it gopher hunting and it's so compact and easy to hop in and out of my Jeep with. The ergonomics are great, new shooters pick up how to use it really quickly. I find the large controls are easy to use with gloves like the HUGE trigger guard, big positive safety, and you can't miss the mag release or bolt hold. The trigger is definitely not great but I think it does get better with time, although it will never be great. The size of the weapon is well worth the trade off.

I can shoot 1moa with my xcr-l chambered in 7.62 x 39. It was 1972 non-corrosive norinco.

f:P:

Pictures or it didn't happen.

The XCR is not designed to shoot 1MOA, it is designed to shoot reliably in any situation. It was originally intended to compete to replace the M4 as the United States Military's primary assault rifle. Assault rifles generally forego accuracy to ensure reliability and ease of use under battle conditions, so I have to call BS unless you can show us pics.

Non restricted, go for the swiss for precision shooting, or the tavor for fun blasting.
There really are no truly accurate black non restricted 308's out there.
A worked over m14 would be the closest thing.

Look I can show you pics but you still have to take my word for their authentic status. So how about this. You take it for what it's worth and move along. It was meant in good faith and was a group shot at 200yrds. At 50yrds I can put 20 rounds into 1.5 inches. Again you can believe or not, I don't own shares in RA so I don't care if he buys one or not. I'm just giving my interaction and shooting experience with the rifle. In this calibre and this batch of ammo.

Perhaps our understanding of 1MOA is different. 1MOA is approximately a 1 inch group at 100 yards. 1.5 inches at 50 yards theoretically translates to 3MOA, which is fairly standard for an assault rifle and completely believable. Have fun shooting.

ok, I'll have to take your word for that. I've never come across a black rifle that can shoot MOA on a regular basis, but it sounds like you may have gotten extremely lucky....don't ever let that rifle go, and when the zombies come, you're on my team lol.

Apparently the Benelli MR1's are tack drivers. So for <$2k that's a pretty good buy. Beyond that, you have the Tavor, XCR and SL8 in the $2.5k range, and then you have the ACR, Swiss Arms and FS2000 all in the $3.5k+ range. The ACR, Swiss Arms and FS2000 will all out-shoot everything in the medium price range.
