Act of Valor

I liked the movie. Thought the idea of having active duty seals was something new and exciting. The story line was so so but te conflict scenes were cool. Damn makes me want a gun boat with wat looked to be 2x m240b? Mounted together. That looks like fun for gettin gators in Florida or wherever they do that haha

Only piss off I had was damnit why don't u turn your eotech on!!!!

Did anyone ever think that maybe the eotech's just don't show up in the style of camera's the were using??? I have no idea here, I am talking out of my ass here, but it was just a thought, maybe the laser or whatever just doesn't get picked up, like, not enough frames per second or something like that

That must've been awesome for the inner gun nut in us all. :D

As for the movie... well, the first scene with the boats and miniguns was awesome but the movie itself... there is no word for how sh***y I thought it was.

Pretty much. SEALs can do some amazing things, but act isn't one of them. And the CoD-inspired visuals and hokey plot (like how hard would it be to mail the ball bearings across the border, fly your terrs in as tourists, assemble in country, etc)? Bleh.

You guys are talking about a Hollywood movie, right???

I liked it for what it is, a Sat. evening flick with popcorn and beer; lousy acting made up by lots of explosion. The boat scene was good.

You dudes sounds like a University course is required to properly analysis the content.

I saw it

Has anyone seen the movie Act of Valor? I thought it was very well made considering real active duty Operators being used as well as live fire. I noticed that each guy had a different optics system on their M4. Which brings me to my next question, what would be the typical M4 manufacture used by the Seals? Colt, DPMS, etc...I'm sure the Navy has a quality control system.

:yingyang:

I saw it, what a great show!!!

Retarded. It's less about not hitting those you don't want to and more about ensuring you hit those you do. If what you said was true every machine gun would be semi auto...:slap:

How long exactly have you been in the service? I've been told that verbatim from several people in the Canadian forces, including a military instructor and 2 guys that have deployed to Afghanistan.

This isn't some john Wayne movie where you go in guns blazing killing everything you see. If you shoot an unarmed civilian, you ARE getting charged, end of story. And that includes a machine gunner too, but we still have the requirement for an automatic rifleman to provide support and cover. They are NOT the guys going in and doing room clearing.

But sure, keep on believing our soldiers are going in and mowing down everything with full auto Laugh2

Steve Janes ceramic ball bearings are all the rage in high end road bikes.

Thinking about seeing the movie but I made the mistake of buying the book, so I'll wait til it comes out on Netflix.

Sweet baby Jeebus the armchair quarterbacks are out in force tonight. It is a movie guys, mistakes included it was a fun flick. Hot chicks, guns, and bad guys getting blowed the f**k up, a great way to spend a Saturday night and that's all. I swear to god it's like a Star Trek convention around here sometimes...

BUT Hollywood is our lifeline to portrayal of real life; it is important they get it right :).

I understand the suspension of disbelief and apply that to movies like Battle LA and the like.... but I was hoping for (perfection might be too strong a word) more I guess with this.

To paraphrase someone in the thread again. Seals can do sealy stuff, doesn't mean they can act.

Would have been better if they just went in as professional advisers and left acting to the actors perhaps, although the plot/dialog was garbage so.... can't polish a turd comes to mind.

I think you need to get out of Meaf for a bit bro..

The movie was fine, the acting was fine, a lot of Seals I have met came off pretty close to the movie in many regards..

Well said.

I just watched the movie last night with my bro. Not on my 10 best list but entertaining, even if they didn't have thier red dots turned on.
