Directly from NECG
I decided to carry my african without glass on it this year and have been working up a load so far it likes 260 gr accubonds over RL 15 and feel confidant anything out to 200 m would be dead(to bad you cant adjust the sights on the african or alasken for elevation). As for the cracking issue I got mine with a HS precision stock on it i've never had any issues to date

where did you get the stock?
Stay tuned I'm just waiting to hear back from the gentleman I got the rifle off of.
Well that would be me.
I bought the stock off another CGN'r to replace the factory wood one. That fellow says it came from the US, but can't recall details. I'm also not sure if the camo pattern is HS factory, my guess would be it's not.
In regard to the factory walnut on the African,I sold it on the EE and the buyer noticed it was cracked in the bridge between the trigger and mag inlet, something I wasn't aware of. I refunded the money and then resold the stock for peanuts with disclosure. It was really only noticeable when you applied side pressure and I don't think it would have caused any issue. I suppose I could have gone to Ruger and tried warranty, but it really wasn't worth the hassle to me.
I kinda miss that gun, though not as much as the RSM in 375H&H I sold after that one, another victim of my gun ADD.![]()
