Except I'm pretty sure for the tasty Vz pictured above, only paper is on the menu. Also pretty sure that with the accessories the price tag is approaching most ARs.
True... but I can go buy a non restricted VZ new for $700, and for another $50 I can get it in Maple

which is extremely patriotic. The CSA in 7.5 is ~$850, the 11" is ~$850 and the 19" is ~$650. So its up to you what you want,
Unlike the AR you really don't need a lot of accessories for a VZ IMO... just extra mags.
If you do want rails for lasers, grips, lights and etc, you can score the polymer quad rail handguards for $60+ from a variety of vendors.
The only thing I like on my VZ is a sight, so you have options ranging from a cheap scout rail up front, or a fancy AK style in the rear, then throw any optic on there. I don't need fancy rails or a AFG/ grip, I use the mag as a front grip and it works well. I don't really need anything else for it... perhaps sling and copious amounts of surplus.
Just bear defense? What about zombie and beaver defense?
Zombie defense?: I got my 7.5" (7.62X39) on sale, and with a crate of ammo it retailed just over $1K, so for my zombie defense I now have an extremely portable (potential high capacity) reliable firearm and 1,400 rounds of 7.62 ball... how much better prepared need i be? 7.62 is abundant and CHEAP, when it does go on sale from the vendors here, you can get killer deals
Beaver defense? pffft 7.62 vaporizes cinder blocks, I can only imagine what it would do to those buck tooth river nazis.
Will the slide fire stock allow me to shoot into space?
No, you need illegal hollow points to do that.
A lot of the Vz's I've seen have been enhanced with various rails, AR stocks and other upgrades. And a fair number of them are also restricted, hence my question... Most bulk .223 will run $350-$400 for 1000 rounds, and it's also non-corrosive (conceding that it is more expensive though). But I agree - maybe I need to find an opportunity to shoot one.
The 7.62 version are all chrome lined so corrosive is not really an issue, if your looking at the 5.56 version I think you need to re-evaluate your priorities, put down your purse and pick up a REAL VZ58 chambered in a real mans "7.62 nutswinger" chambering.
I am amazed that a guy with such nice guns like you has never shouldered a VZ before!
Actually, I've kind of become a subscriber to the "less is more" philosophy - so that's true to the extent I have very few to actually send.
I notice that the definition of a "few" guns varies on here. There are guys with 30+ guns that say they have a "small" collection, and amazingly there are people with about 8 guns that will claim they have "many"... it is all perspective
No comparisons. It's kind of in a class of its own anyway, isn't it?
Indeed.
lol. The AR platform is a love-hate relationship, because I love tinkering and playing around with it - to the point where it drives me up the wall because I wish they'd stop making accessories for it...
The AR is the barbie gun, they will never stop giving it new careers and they will never stop making senseless accessories for it.
I am still waiting for them to release a 5.7mm and 4.6mm versions,
(I am sure it is probably in the works, someone is probably shilling that as I type.)
I went through that phase of accessorizing, but after I got my gun to a comfortable point, I just figured I couldn't do anything else to my AR that would make it more enjoyable... so I bought more mags and a crate of surplus
