We took the preorder option for the .50 beowulf mags out.

We will allow pre-order once we have better ETA from the manufacturer and we will bring more in.

Thanks

I literally placed a back-order for 6 mags 30 seconds before you took the option down.

Does that mean I get first dibs on them when they come in? Can you PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE have them pinned to 5.9 rounds?

Can you reload using 300 gr. .50 AE or 350 gr. .500 S&W bullets?

I'll wait for the .50 Beowulf pistol mags to come out!!! Close to regular capacity? :D

I really wanted to post that picture :D
Full length mag with not only 10 but 13+ .223 rounds it's like Christmas came early!

Wicked rifle too. perfect for vehicle defense! ;)

Dont mean to burst everyones bubble but this is direct from the Alexander Arms site.

Q4. Will the Beowulf® magazine feed .223 shells?

No, it will not.
Q5. Can any .223 magazine be used in the .50 Beowulf®?

Yes, but the feed lips must be modified. The feed lips need to be opened up to allow for the much larger cartridge. In addition, a new follower needs to be installed to allow for the single stack configuration of the Beowulf® cartridge. Alexander Arms does not sell springs or followers. However, we do sell complete .50 Beowulf magazines in our Online Store.

They work just fine. Guys were running them in the 3 gun match last weekend. I picked up 4 of them and the only problem I have is that the reloads I run in Pmags and LAR mags are ever so slightly too long to fit in the 50 Beowolf mags.

I just loaded up 50 rounds of .50 Beowulf with Hornady 350 gr. XTP Mags backed by 35.4 gr. of Hodgdon Lil' Gun. I'll try them out tomorrow.

On the subject of mags - I repositioned the rivet to 5.8 rounds of .50 Beowulf to ensure proper seating on closed bolt. It also takes 14 rounds of .223. I wouldn't fiddle around too much past that otherwise you risk loading 6 rounds of .50 and, of course, you might start getting homicidal impulses and people would have to lock up their children and puppies......

So there you have it. I'll post back tomorrow after range try out.

If after repositioning the rivet we're only talking 14 rounds of .223, I think I'll stick with the XCR pistol magazines (13 rounds of .223, nothing really required). And they're more readily available at the moment. Would love to see a range video of the .50 Beowulf, though.

Norincodude, I am looking forward to your range report. I am seriously considering the Beowolf upper for my collection. Price is not a problem, nor do I care how many .223 you can stuff in the mag.

Looking to see how accurate it is at 25, 50, 100, and 200 yds. I am currently working in Afghanistan and will purchase a few additions when i come home. I run around Kabul with an Ak-47 and like the size of the .50 AE.

Back from the Range

So, a successful day with the Beowulf at the range. It was windy but a nice sunny day in the nation's capital. The Beowulf performed very nicely. I hand loaded 50 rounds the night before - 350 gr. Hornady XTP MAGs backed by 35.4 gr of Hodgdon Lil' Gun (a shotgun powder). I was surprised by the recoil. It felt more like a 12 gauge - a little heavy for the M4 platform. I have a standard Magpul butt stock on it. Maybe something with better recoil absorption would be a better option...

So I fired magful of the .50Beo and then ran a Beo 5 round mag with 14 rounds of .223. (as per the attached video) It worked flawlessly. I fired a total of 50 .50 rounds at 100 metres. By the end I had more or less sighted in the Eotech sight. It needed a heckuva lot of correction before it even went on the paper. Between sighting in and my deteriorating vision in my right eye I had switched to left handed shooting and put in the five final rounds which you can see in the photo below. For reference, the black circle is 3 inches across.

All in all I really enjoyed the 'Wulf. It certainly felt more like a shotgun but with the portability of a carbine with decent accuracy. It certainly fits with my current philosophy of going for heavy hitting bullets. It makes a great match for my Glock 21 (.45 acp).

I've ordered some 500 gr. bullets from Higginson and apparently these are very accurate. I'll update when these arrive.

All in all - a great day. :50cal:
