Don't jump on Jon about this, from what I understand the complaint is not from him. Nor is it from Greg, he and his wife both sent letters of support for me to submit, as did Stormbringer (all of whom I thank very much).
As to why I got a lawyer involved, well, because the original letter was pretty obviously intended to let me know that they were holding my recently submitted match fee to the AustralAsians hostage, funny how the letter was sent shortly after I paid. I have already withdrawn from the match though as my mom's cancer has kicked into high gear and I'll either be watching her die or dealing with the estate, probate etc come February and March. Did I mention that it was at the nationals that I found out it wasn't simple brain tumor stuff (which a fellow IPSC shooter removed just before the nationals). But I digress. The letter was pretty obvious the setup to removing me at my next match, or using it to try and **** with me at my next match or matches. So i gave it to my lawyer to deal with, I've got better things to worry about. And if you follow the letters above, which besides my support letters, is everything that's been sent, you will notice that they haven't even followed their own guidelines for dealing with me.
But I also want you to notice they say the rule book applies, even after a match is over, that's right, verification sheets have been posted and the hour has passed. At an awards supper, after the match is over, stages already being torn down, match is over. People drinking alcohol on the range, match is over. Hello people drinking at the dinner, match is over. By these people's thinking every single competitor who drank a beer any night of the Nationals, or any multi day match, well they should be DQd, after all, match ain't over until the results are posted. I mean that makes total sense right?
Sad part is, if I did offended some one, call me, or email me, I would have happily apologized to them. He IPSC BC could have sent me a letter saying we didn't like it, don't do it again. But don't not even follow our rule set while saying you are, when it's pretty blatant you aren't. Grow a set of balls, and deal with **** like a normal, rationally adult.
Further outfall from this is, effective immediately my club AFGC will be hosting 2 gun matches, USPSA matches, maybe some 3 gun. But not a shred of IPSC. My weekly S&D classes will no longer push people to IPSC, even though we'll still work on what it takes to not get into trouble at a match. In fact next week's drills are going to involve not handing Dairy Queen gift cards out. And our winter indoor match? Sponsored by my buddies Dairy Queen.
So yeah don't jump on Jon, I don't think it's him, and it's because Steve is IPSC BC's lawyer that he had to to weigh in.
