Norinco "Colt" Python.......?

Laugh2

Norinco making a Python?!?!? Go and wash your mouth out with Hoppes™, sir! Norinco do make some decent clones, it's true, but some things are, well, sacrosanct.
First a Python, then there'd be a.... gasp... Anaconda....

And x2,314 on offers to relieve you of your under-used Pythons.

ps- Johnn, please STOP TORTURING US with your *%^%$%#& pictures. Sheesh! :) Stuart

Can do if you wish. Being lazy, I find posting a picture saves me a lot of long winded descriptive dialogue.

I wouldn't want to see Norinco make a clone of those fine Colt handguns. If we had to have replicas made, Id rather see Cimarron, Uberti or Pietta do it. I despise how Norinco makes unlicensed copies of guns designed and originally produced in the States or Europe. This is copyright infringement and nothing less.

You realize that there IS no copyright on anyof the designs you mention? Every one is now common domain. Kimber, springfield, uberti, none of them pay a cent in license fee's and none of them originally built the firearms they copy. The reason there ARE so many 1911 makers is that there is no copyright, they can pull cad files off the internet, program and go. All that norc has going for it is cheap labour and no export taxes levied.

Norc probably COULD make a python clone if they felt that there was enough demand. They have the advantage of being low enough cost in material and labour that they could train up smiths to make them, and toss out 2 of 3 parts made to get the action fit and tolerance they want and still sell for less then 500. That's how they make cash on a lot of their metal work jobs coming to NA.

There admittedly, I did 'cheat' with a recent acquisition. I have a Colt 1911 that was accurized by and belonged to an old friend.

The recent acquisition is the Kimber Super Match II that I couldn't resist, and didn't try very hard to either.

And then there's also a 'sort of' or similar look a like S&W model 4506 in the stable.

unless you plan on selling it whats the point of collecting and not using? shoot it, wear it out, let it live the life it was built to live. as a tool and weapon, not a display piece.

How about ANY REVOLVER FROM NORINCO. Even a .38spl with a 5 inch barrel. Great cheap gun to shoot PPC and bullseye with. The charter arms just isnt worth it when you can get a ruger for $100 more and it only hold 5 rds which counts it out for sports. A 38spl with a nice beefy frame for a good price is what we need.

Kinda like having a Ferrari in the garage, and driving a Fiero. Loosely the same concept, but really about as alike as New York Strip and dog####.

Myself I just don't have the spare funds to be a collector only.
I have three Colt revolvers (and one 1911) and all of them see range time.
Yes, maybe one of them does not get fed much .357 Magnum very much and only shot SA, but all of them get used sometime or another.
They are nice handguns that should be shot to be truly appreciated IMHO.

If you don't feel like shooting your Pythons because of their collector's value, put them away and get a 586/686 or two. Then send them to a smith who can do a good trigger job on them. Not quite the same as a Python, but pretty close.

I sure can't see Norinco making a better than barely decent revolver. Their guns are quite functional, but generally copies of guns that were designed to be easy to mass-produce. The kind of craftsmanship it takes to make a really fine revolver is something they'd never bother to develop.

So your snakes are worth a lot? How about buying the one from Williams? Come on, can't take it with you so enjoy it, just put them in a nice paded straw basket when taking them to the range, play some nice Hindu music when you train them and be happy!!!!

Get a 4.2 686. They are stainless, but have carbon steel hammer and trigger. You could add a wolff spring kit,but they are very good right out of the box.
