Ar15 was not banned in Canada during the previous assault ban from 1994 to 2004. What make you think it will be banned this time around?

At any rate, when it comes to corporations (legal entities only interested in making money), I hardly find it difficult to consider the possibility that they would try to manipulate their markets by taking advantage of political atmospheres and/or artificially raise prices by creating supply shortages.

Not necessarily. The Democrats don't have a majority in the House, and mid-term elections are only two years away. Even if the bill is defeated it could result in enough Republicans losing their seats to public outcry that the Democrats end up with a majority in both the House and Senate. Far from being political suicide, this could be the catalyst to give Obama the free reign to do whatever he wants in the last 2 years...

Any time is a good time to buy a black rifle, especially an AR. However, under the circumstances, I think now it's imperative that every single black rifle shooter support their sport in a meaningful way to show politicans everywhere that we will be heard. If you can buy a new rifle, great! If not, that's ok. How about a stripped or finished lower? Those count just as much as a fully completed firearm. If no lower, how about accessories or ammo?

Close to 2 million Canadian gun owners. There are just under 2 million PAL holders and only 564,491 restricteds registered in total. Considering the vast majority of these will be handguns, I bet there are less than 50,000 AR's in the entire country. Since AR owners seldom seem to have only one, that cuts the numbers in half or more again. Looking at our numbers, AR owners are a tiny fringe element of gun owners overall.

I'd agree with that to a large extent. Most people I know of who have AR's only own (1) but I see plenty of people here and elsewhere who own more than one. Hopefully, tomorrow morning I'll have completed a transaction to buy my 5th ever AR.

Sorry, my bad. While I don't think it would be political suicide here, I don't necessarily see the Canadian Government getting onboard the AWB unless we have an equally similar tragedy here and there's a political opportunity. Again.
