Has anyone been denied a restricted firearm transfer because NOT a gunclub member??

I have trouble understanding why people want a restricted and not belong to a club. You can't shoot it anywhere else.

My first few restricted purchases for the year require me to fax a copy of my membership card in. After that, no problem.

I do have a restricted transfer that I have to complete the info for. Haven't renewed my membership yet as I have no time to use it. Be interesting to see how it goes...........

Given the high cost of a membership, I usually join for a couple years, drop out for a year, join for a couple etc. While I am not a member in the "in between years", I should still be able to buy a restricted firearm in anticipation of joining the following year.

Club membership for the year ~400.
Times gone shooting at the range for the year ~5
Drop in fee for non members at above club ~20
You still have a problem understanding ?

I have actually considered this as it is much cheaper to be a guest shooting if you don't go enough.... again, you should be able to purchase a restricted firearm to do this and not HAVE to be a club member.

Anyone who has had a RPAL renewal refused or been downgraded to a PAL because they don't own restricreds, please send a private message to CGN member sweetheart with the details.

She is married to expert firearms lawyer Ed Burlew and they would like to hear what happened.

Kind of like anybody with a car that has a speedo reading over 100kph! no point owning one since it's illegal to cross that threshold of speed, right?!

Sure you can. Just not legally. And you can fondle it, strip it, try it in different holsters....just get to know it really well.

Shooting is only part of the pleasure. I have trouble understanding why you have trouble understanding that....;)

So each time you go to a range, you have to request a short term ATT.

Last I asked the ON CFO about this, I was told I'd need a written letter of invitation any time I wanted to go to the range. No range will do that every time for a $20 fee, nor for non-members.

....I get my wife to pose with my hand guns....watching a woman step out of the shower holding one of my polymer super pistols is absolutely horrible....:) the fun doesn't end at the range...

In Alberta the CFO will not approve your first restricted transfer until you provide proof of range membership. Once that was established I have never had them ask for proof since, even though it has been several years since I provided that first range card info.

Mark

Bought my first restricted last week. Had to fax membership proof. I'm in Québec.

As an FYI I had my first restricted transfer of this year done today. I didn't even have to call in. The transfer was done before I called. Didn't want my club membership, either.

Most perplexing......................

Purchased from a dealer in Alberta. Theeee quickest transfer I have ever had done.

Purchased a Used 1911 today in a private sale.

Seller called and initiated.
I called and confirmed.

Then I called the NS CFO and they told me it would take them 3-5 days to process.

I'm in Nova Scotia and buying my first restricted since relocating from ON.

I've had a restricted transfer request pending for a couple weeks. After following up today I found out that tomorrow I get to call the CFO to "finish" the transfer. I'll follow-up after that call tomorrow. :)

I'm a club member so never had a problem, but has anyone ever had to actually verify their membership to the CFO?

What's to stop you from just giving the name of a club you don't really belong to?

...not that I'm suggesting anyone do that:rolleyes:
