Shorten PAL Approval Times

Your on-line issued date of Jan 03 is not necessarily the date that your license is printed and mailed. The paperwork that came with my license indicated it was really issued 4 days after the posted on-line date issued. It makes it seem that the mail is slow when it really did not leave Miramichi when you think it did. You should have it any day now.

This is so true! My application showed issued on Dec 24th online, the paper work included with my license showed an issue date of Jan 4th. Im positive the break between christmas and new years played a large part in the delay to actually issue.

What is the certificate of registration[/QUOTE

When a registered weapon is registered with the CFC it gets a certificate of registration...it's all part of the gun registry that still exists for registered weapons. When you buy or sell a registered weapon the registration at the CFC has to be transferred to the new owner.

Certificate mailed to you by CFO of your province as proof of ownership and registration. Contains all the same info as on the transfer notice but on a more "official" card. Generally mailed to you within a couple weeks of the transfer.

I followed the instruction here to shorten appl. time.
I sent my application express and tracked it . They received it December 10 201,
After numerous phone calls (once per week from time of receival)
it appeared online January10 2013. I called in the next day and they told me that my application was complete and they didn't need anything more transfer me for my interview. So on Monday I'm going to get my reference to call them.
Thanks guys for all the info, i waited for my stamped test result. I wish I had known about this forum earlier I would've done things differently.

Well I didn't call them on Monday too busy but they called my references yesterday Jan.15, 2013, so things starting to look good. But still anxious for that final day when it's in my hand straight shopping.

LOL, I feel for ya man! Fingers crossed for this week for you!

So the wait has finally come to an end today, plastic has shown up in the mail, postmarked Jan 10th yet "issued" online on Jan 2nd :)

Good luck to all on your wait!
Now waiting for firearm transfers

BTW thanks to all for your help and good thoughts ! Really helped

Congratulations!! Still waiting on my Certificate of Registration :(

p.s Jam..can man Nitpicker meant that all RESTRICTED weapons must be registered and your Certificate of Registration is proof of that. You must have the Certificate with the restricted gun at all times when you transport it and be able to produce it for a police officer upon request. Hence the reason the wait is not quite over when your gun transfer is complete, you still have to wait for the Reg. Certificate to show up before you can go to the range with said gun. :p

Congrats man, let us know how long the transfers take as most of us will be in your shoes shortly. Mines bought and paid for just need my license now. Was wondering how long it would take for the registration/ STATT in Ontario.

So when tso what you are saying is that if I am buying a non restricted gun that was registered, I have to get a Certificate of Registration

Non-restricteds (most Long-guns) no longer need to be registered or de-registered* (except for Quebec) or transferred via the CFC (Miramichi).

*RNIP LGR (Rest not in Peace, LGR)

A non restricted does not need to be registered, you walk in with cash and walk out with your gun, you still need a PAL, for a restricted you need an RPAL, then they CFO need to transfer the gun into your name, the certificate of registration is kinda like an ownership for an automobile. This can take a few days up to a month here in Ontario.

Only in quebec. Rest of Canada:If you hold a PAL or PAL ,there is no need for paper or registration of a non restricted firearm, even if she was registered before the long gun registry was scrapped.
