My rifle shoots 1/2" groups @100 yards all day! Really? Prove it.

five consecutive .5 moa groups in a row....if you print 3 and then shoot a larger group on the 4th attempt then the first 3 get washed and you start over...........all 5 groups must be on the same target.....
Sorry, I'm out then. Then anyone can keep shooting hundreds of rounds to finally have 5 consecutive groups .5MOA
Sooner or later you'll get it right?

it will rule out all of the fluke though...............

Heck I did it during load developement.......first starting load didn't make it but the next 5 did, next 2 off the scale...........

If the weather around here stays open, I may be able to get into our club to try. I have a Sako 222, and a Sako 260, that are capable of this. IF, that's a big IF, I can keep it together through 25 shots.
I will attempt this challenge if I can get to the range.

Great Idea by the way.

sounds like a fun exercise but Canuck525 is correct, the only time it counts is in competition.

99 percent of cgn'rs don't compete..................but still make the claims on how well they shoot.....then they called out and invited to compete.....then they shoot exuses faster then bullets fly.............

This is correct. Where I live in Northwest Ontario and my job don't really allow me to compete.

Great idea for contest/prove it!

How ever I'm seeing 8 pages of talk.. And not a lot of pictures:nest:

I know that my rifle will not do this, but I'm going to give it a go! I want to see some one do this with a real rifle.. 30 caliber or larger "flamesuiton!"

Toolman did it on the first page with a 308. And I plan to do it with my 308 when I get home in a couple of days. And of course there isn't many takers yet because the thread is only a few days old. Hopefully the weekend will get lots of guys out.

Hit the nail on the head.

I for one will never say my gun can do it day in and day out. My Benchrest rifles will under 1/2" but with them in competition they better do .250 or less which they seldom do. Driver errors and poor loads contribute to that. Sometimes it is embarrassing for people to see some of the ugly groups that a short range BR rifle could shoot. Those are competition rifles strictly. Using the best components we can find on the market for the Short range shooter.

Good luck guys! Thats some Serious concentration there! Wow!

Thats like trying to keep a birdie run going through 18 holes of golf! Lol!

You bet it is. This is just a small taste of what it takes to win an agg in the Short range BR game. The game that so many feel is BORING. My best agg for winning a 2 Gun was a .2554 That is 10-5 shot groups at 100 and 10-5 shot groups at 200 for a total of 100 shots on record. So you bet there is a lot of concentration, discipline, wind reading, loading and tuning to get away with that. I still feel I was not worthy of the win. I would have been happier with a .2250.

Many say it only matters in competition but so many who do not compete say there rifles do it. This is just a friendly way of saying "Show me by proving" and doing it HONESTLY. If I fail at this challenge I will most definately admit it.

OK this is the challenge, put up your targets even if you can't shoot 1/2" lets see what everyone is doing and with what?
Savage 12FV 223 with a Sightron Slll 10-50x60mm FCH Nosler brass 69 gr. Sierra HPBT match CCI primers seated at 2.260 24.5 gr. Varget 2785fps
easier said than done! I will try again when its warmer!
forgot to post picture of gun, here it is!
forgot to indicate smallest group and average!
smallest group is 0.437" and average is 0.716"
and second target smallest is 0.519" and average is 0.645"
Not bad considering the temp and wind! Next week!!!

Never made it out today. But yes very good groups above for this temp.

I won't do better. Not with a 222 and 26 km winds -18 windchill. Would hope to do as well. Even if I pulled out my custom LV 6 ppc. But going to stick to a real off the self rifle.

Hope tomorrow.

So if my target were to show 4 groups >.5" and the fifth group had one shot that opened the group to .6", would that indicate a non-1/2" gun or shooter error? How about 2?

I'm going to watch this thread because it looks like fun, but I'm not going to try it at -35. Sorry, I'm a wuss that way......;)

All groups must be less than .5".
