My rifle shoots 1/2" groups @100 yards all day! Really? Prove it.

All the successful attempts along with the rifle and caliber used are in the original post. But no, nobody has posted an attempt with anything bigger than a 308 that I recall. Please post your results no matter what happens. It would be nice to see an attempt from a magnum.

Okay will do, next shoot for me is during Easter weekend I have a load with retumbo that shoots between .35 and .5 on average with the odd flyer .75 but I think that's my fault more than any I have been trying to find a good trigger, mines crisp but 3.25 pounds is a bit heavy for that fine of shooting, we will see what happens
Also I usually shoot 3 shot groups..... 5 could change the game

someone try it with a 6mm caliber ? i must try this when i will have some time with my ruger mark 2 target in .243 win , i can probably succeed that challenge

You guys are going to hate me. I am thinking of another challenge and it will be harder than this one. What do you think? Is there room for another one or is there too many already?

I thought the first challenge was going to expire my barrel, but it didn't :).
I'm in.

Well, I gave it a whirl today...EPIC FAIL. No excuses, I was just not shooting well and having a terrible day. Guys at the range were wanting to chat more than shoot, and other guys with no spotting scope were wanting to go down range to check targets after every three shots. It made it hard to focus and do a decent job. Oh well, I learned not to attempt good groups if your distracted by others. Here are the details, groups sizes were...

0.540, 0.837, 0.754, 0.867, and the worst was 1.093, all in inches all at 100 yards. Average was 0.818 across the 5 groups, with not one single group below the challenge goal of 0.5! Very frustrating, but oh well.

Rifle details...

Remington 700 short action
McGowan barrel chambered to 260 improved
McMillan A5 stock
Vortex Razor HD 5-20X50 MRAD scope
139 Lapua Scenars and Lapua brass

Here are some pics...

This is a picture of the rifle from a couple of weeks ago, no changes to the rifle. Only thing missing is I use a rear bag for a rest, it is not in this pic.

I failed misserably...but I learnt a few things about loading for this babe.........
I am only posting because I think I rifle is fricken ###y and she is not afraid to strutt herself on the internet........

Stevens 200 action, 8 twist zero taper 300aac blk, 36x Weaver, Savage F-TR stock, factory crap trigger.......for now
These are thefirst groups I printed using LiL gun powder and 110 grain Vmax, I just picked a load and went with the book value for seating depth.....obviously I am going to revisit this combo shortly, but before I hit the reloading bench again I am pulling the factory 4 pound trigger out and installing a Rifle Basix....its only been on the work bench for the better part of a year........enjoy the pics.....

group 1 0.907
group 2 1.967
group 3 1.336
group 4 1.136
group 5 1.229

smallest 0.907 average 1.315
If I can get it to a MOA gun I will be stoked.......

Small group: .599 - .224 = .375

These groups were shot by my father with his rifle.
Rifle is a tikka varmint heavy barrel in .223 Rem. Off the shelf with no work done.
Scope is a Bushnell 4200 6-24.
Harris S series bipod.
Rear bag.

Load is 55 grain V-Max bullets under 12.9 grains of alliant bluedot (gotta watch for double charges!). Speed around 2700 fps. OAL is max for the tikka magazine.
I've worked up this load with my father for our gopher outings each spring. All rounds loaded off a lee turret press using an auto disk to charge the cases.
I figure this isn't bad accuracy for a load i can make at the rate of 200 an hour.

He says he'll give it a try again next time he hits the range.

Hi there triplepete. I think you may have posted this in the wrong spot. If not, you need to add more info to your post. All the required info is on the first page in the original post.
