I have an STI AR that I would like to put a 1 X4 optic on as a primary,...any advice where to get one...what choices do I have? Millet, Burris, ...?

not sure...definitely no more than a new Eotech,,,sub $600. There seem to be a lot of choices from Burris.

1x4 optics that are any good are expensive.
I really like 1x4 and have 4 of them. 3 Leupold and one Vortex (just got it so I dunno if it will be worth it)

I just find the cheaper ones change eye relief and or do funny things with paralax.

The Vortex Viper PST is around that range and is quite popular. I have the Vortex Razor HD 1-4 and am very impressed with it. I've taken a look through some of the lower priced ones (Burris, Millet, etc.) and have not been overly impressed with them.

I just ordered the Viper PST 1-4 in moa yesterday from SFRC after a lot of reading.
The fact that the scope and the Larue SPR mount cost more than the Norc M4orgery still has me chuckling! ;)

I did a build a while back and finished it off with a Viper PST, nice little optic for the price. As for the Burris products, I just did a build yesterday with the MTAC 1-4x package from Reliable Gun. It was $699.00 plus a slight discount from Shane, and it brought it to basically $700.00... It comes with the 1-4x MTAC optic, plus the Fastfire 3, and the PEPR mount... Individually, you would easily pay well over 1k for those parts... I haven't taken it out yet, but so far I like it for the price range.

Very nice setup PBR. I have the same set up but with the XTR and FFII. That's great there coming with the III now. Let us know how you like it after running it. Personally I found I had to lift my head to much to use the FF so I mounted it on a DD 1'oclock rail just under the objective.

Any pics of that?

Personally, I'd save up and buy a Nightforce. Light years ahead of the Vortex PST (yes, i've owned one and a Razor 1-4x too).

Picked this one up for $950 if I recall...

thanks for the pics...looks nice. I notice on the Wolverine website, they have a HI LUX 1X4 and also some red dot sights. Looks like it comes with warranty,,,,,,,,,,,,?!?

The most prominant ones I'd look at in a 1-4(ish) range in no particular order:

Leopould Mark 4 MR/T 1.5-5x20 M2
Nightforce NXS 1-4x24
Vortex Razor HD 1-4x24
US Optics SR-6

I bought a Burris XTR with illuminated reticle from a fellow CGN'r and have been very impressed with it, even used it's a bit over the budget though. I'd say a new Vortex PST is a great buy and so is a used Trijicon Accupoint.
