Oh no guys I went to cabelas and they had no 7.62x39. Quick there is a shortage go buy everything you see or we will never have enough. ZOMG quick before its to late.

Semi-local shop had cci blazer .22, terrible price by my standards ( nearly $30/500 ) however it was true CCI not Federal being passed off as CCI... My 10-22 devours the CCI Blazer, despite the cost I wanted to pick up a case or two. They limited me to 8 bricks, wouldn't sell me one more despite having a few cases more on hand.
In all my years shooting this is the first time I have been refused purchasing more ammo.
Not sure if hoarding is the issue, politics, don't really care what the reasons is... Just know the price gouging and purchase limits are getting old. Real quick.
Another local shop though has decent prices ( $24/500 ) however it is federal "blazer" not CCI. They have dozens of pallets and have never put restrictions on purchases.
Hope things improve. Soon... I dream that someday Canada will start producing consumer level ammo at reasonable prices... Not sure which of those will happen first.

I went in to look at pistols tonight at a local store and they must have had 30+ cases of .22LR on the floor plus whatever they had on the shelves.

We use to be able to buy tracers. Had 2 cases paid for with a cz858 from frontier firearms in 2008-09 when I was waiting for PAL to process.4-5 months. By the time the pal was completed it was too late. Anybody got any lol

Looking fwd to when Obama's gun stimulus ends. All the hoarders with excessive unused ammo along with mfr full production will create over supply with lots of great deals in store and in EE. Six months, one year, sooner or later it will come.

You know he seen the same thing happen by accident when he was elected in 2008, but did all he could to quell the fear and it fizzled out when he did nothing.
Perhaps he seized the opportunity to recreate the same environment on purpose this time, but instead of doing anything either way, he just drags it out and lets the fear drive the market.
He is on a fund raising campaign right now, using the issue to fill the Democrat's war chest, and the Nations treasury by banging on that drum.
Drag it out, and make the most of it.
If anything was seriously going to come, or if he was more serious about it, it would have happened already, but he knows it is best for the fundraising and economy to drag it out.
He is a crafty one.

I guess the news of the shortage hasn't hit there yet.
Perhaps if you should do your part in stockpiling and telling your friends of the doom and gloom of shortages.
That should clean out the shelves in do course.
I just had another thought, Alberta is also has a more relaxed CFO, and I think on a relative basis, the sport shooting culture here, especially in urban centres, is quite large compared to other regions of the country with more Fudds. Ergo, there's more deep stackers here than there are in other regions. I speculate that the disparity we're seeing in shortages, for now, a result of this dynamic.
BC, Ontario, and Quebec have more strict CFOs, while the territories and maritimes don't have large population centres and I'm willing to bet, many leagues of high volume shooters or retail gun ranges.
It's interesting following this thread and seeing how different regions stack up with supply shortages. the real litmus test are the local retail shops that don't do high volume shipping. Specifically, when Joe-nwt starts seeing shortages up in a sparsely populated region with few high volume shooting disciplines, that will be the time to worry.
Joe, mind chiming in on the composition of the shooting community in your area? Personally, my club has over 300 handgun shooters, and there are at least 6 other groups in my city that have over 50-200 active shooters that do high volume (more than 50 rounds per shooting session on a weekly to biweekly basis). That's over and above the casual or rural folk who keep guns for casual plinking, varmint and pest control, and hunting and probably don't shoot more than 50 - 100 rounds per year
