Shorten PAL Approval Times

This doesn't look good for me having sent my application in early March, I thought my wait time was crazy but it looks like I'm just getting started here... bureaucracy...

I Did the pal and rpal course recently with a few buddys, some from sask and some from alberta. Those of us in sask got ours back about a week sooner then in alberta. Mine was approved 34 days after being recieved and showed up a week later in the mail. Roughly the same time for others I know in sk. Seems to be less of a crap shoot then apps from bc.

Got my last ref to call in today...

Current Status: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canada Firearms Centre Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000)

:cool::cool::cool:
Called in the BC CFO on monday, got my licence number over the phone.
Got my membership in order and have my LATT in hand as I type this.

Timing was awesome.

How long? And how did you get a hold of the BC CFO?

Edit: I phoned in today and was told my licence was approved and was just awaiting printing!

There is a 778 number floating around for them.
I'm at work atm and don't have it on me but will post it up when I get home.
I was on hold for almost half an hour, just put my phone on speaker and set it down.

Edit, Added number

My PAL/RPAL was received in Miramici on March 25 and just showed up online today.

"Current Status: You have been or will soon be contacted about your application. If you require more information immediately please contact the Canada Firearms Centre Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000) " does this mean that my interviews will come shortly, or is there something up with my application?

Well that's unfortunate. If my picture is wrong do I have to do the whole application again or can I just send another picture?

Just call them tomorrow and find out from the source what is exactly wrong. They will tell you everything you need to do in order to correct any errors. It could be a simple box wasn't checked. Call tomorrow.

Thanks, very useful post! Been trying to find the # online with no luck ........... surprise surprise

What is the average wait time that you Ontarions experienced for getting back your approved test results?
Mine were sent in March 25th. I might call in soon and see if they got there.

I completed the the course around the same time you did... March 23 and 24.. They said that I should get my results back within 4 weeks but I'm still waiting. What I did do was send in my pal/rpal application around March 26 to get the waiting period started. Just waiting on the results to fax it in.

So, i might have a idea as to why some of the apps are so delayed. l called up the BC CFO # today. lt seems that if someone of the same name or the same birth-date as you and has had a run in with the law it will go into a queue that has to be manually checked and processed. For example there are 22 people whom have the same name as me in Canada on Linkedln alone, so there could be a couple off hundred with the same name or birth-date, if anyone has been a bad boy that will hold you up it seems.

l was told i could call back if i liked but mine would probably be ''a couple of months'' , WTF

That makes sense. I used to have a lot of trouble flying as someone with my name had an outstanding warrant.

I tried to call the BC CFO number above and it went to the CFC line with the standard "BC CFO is really busy just be patient."

I've had a bit of success getting to the BC CFO. Basically call the cfc # and ask to be transferred to the BC CFO...then be prepared to wait on hold for 20+ minutes. I called this morning, waited on hold for 15 minutes and was greeted by the "busy" dial tone (a real pissoff). I Hung up, and called them right back. Currently on hold.

Edit: After a 40 minute hold I was told the same spiel that I was told 2 weeks ago. "The BC CFO is really busy, theres a backlog of applications bla bla bla." this time though, she was kind enough let me know that theres no estimated wait time, and theres nothing I can do to speed up the process
