Hmmmm well im glad a local place i go to juss stocked up with over 15 pallets of goodies, ammo and guns, got #### load of .22, good 3000-4000 rounds of 9, 3000 of .45, 500 of 50AE, 500 of 12 gauge and 2800 of 7.62x39 im set for a minute.
Ammo is not worsening its the wallet lol.

I'm keeping an eye out for free guns & ammo on my bear hunts, even have a shovel with me. Way better than finding sheds!

The ammo situation will recover, but the prices will never come down to what they once were. Suppliers will use every scare tactic and excuse to tell us that ammo is going to be more expensive. There is no ammo company out there that won't use a crisis like this to their financial advantage.

Was in a LGS a couple of hours ago, jokingly asked about primers and powder......reply, everything popular is SOLD OUT!

Prices once up will never return to pre-scare and IMO you will see bulk .22LR in the 27 to 29 dollar range in the future. That is 6 to 8 dollars more than three months ago.

I think the prices will return to normal. Ammo is like gas, if it goes up too much people will shoot/drive less. They push the prices as much as they can but if it goes up too much, they won't move as much product.

Prices will come back down a bit, but it also depends on the prices of raw materials. Right now the price of copper and lead are down a little, so we can expect the prices to come down as demand slackens next year.

However if the metal prices go up, then I wouldn't expect prices to come down much or at all.

Down a little?

Copper would have to be 1/4 of it's current price and lead would have to be 1/2 it's current price to make any observable difference in the price of ammo.

Even then, I don't think it would be in any way a linear price move. .223 was $0.50/round in the lead up/shortly after the 2008 financial crisis. About 6 months-a year after (the time it takes for newly manufactured ammo to hit Canadian consumers), the price was around $0.40/round - down around 20% - even though the primary input commodities for ammo dropped nearly 70% in price.

While you might argue that the price crash was relatively brief - the thing is that a PROLONGED price crash like that would be reflective of a massive deflationary crisis. A move like that would also probably create a financial crisis greater than any in human history and utterly demolish the global economy.

At that point, I don't think ammo would go down in price either - if anything, I think you'd see exponential increases in the price of ammo.

Instead of worrying or complaining about the drought if there is one in Canada, I will start a thread for shooters looking for any type of ammo or loading supplies to help those hard to get rounds and find the best prices!

well these explains why I've been going in to the store for the past 4 weeks looking for ammo because the range doesn't have a lot of snow and I wanted to go shooting! but no luck with finding ammo!!

I have no idea what folks are talking about WRT ammo shortages.

I was just able to arrange a group buy of ammo from one of the supporting dealers of this website of over 15,000 rounds (amongst a group of us) including 10K of .22 LR.

*shrug*

It's out there if you look for it.

+1, Have not had a problem finding any ammo I wanted, no real shortage!

Well since all this scare started I'm now up to over 10,000 rounds of .22lr.

Between that and the 3 crates of 7.62 x 39, and all my reloading supplies I am not worried.

As others have mentioned though, I am not seeing any real shortages.

Mostly just ####### dealers promoting the fear and looking for excuses to jack up prices if you ask me!
