Was at my local Canadian Tire last night picking up some Federal Bulk 22lr and as the employee was taking down my PAL info I noticed a single box of Winchester 22lr 500 count with a tag of $3.79.
I asked him to see it, told him that the price must not be accurate. He scans it and tells me it was. I explain the price must be for the sleeves of 50 packs inside the box. He checks again and says no the price is accurate. He even writes down the Canadian Tire product number on the side of the box in case there are any problems at the til.
Sure enough it scans at $3.79 at the til, the checkout girl remarks what a great deal that is in comparison to the federal, I agree, pay for my purchase, walk back to the truck the whole time expecting an employee to come stop me to explain the pricing error...nope.

Just like that Ikea commercial. START THE CAR!!! START THE CAR!!!

Yeah, gotta admit still feeling a little guilt, not enough to stop me from checking the shelf again tonight for more...but its there.

Oddly enough I had the exact same thing happen to me about 6 months ago! It too was also at a CT store. It was a 500 round brick of Winchester Wildcats. Like you say, the brick was marked for the price of a 50 round sleeve. I also checked, had them scan & verify & then they even walked me up to the register (so kind) to pay. Unfortunately they didn't have any more bricks!!! I was sure it was too good to be true but like you say ...... START THE CAR!!!!
When I got home I checked and found that the SKU # on the 500 round brick box is identical to the SKU # on the 50 round boxes inside.

Some guys have all the luck.

I was checking out walmart the other day and they had about 10 500 count bricks of winchester wildcat sitting above a tag that said "Winchester .22 $13.99". I asked for 3 of them (i'm not that much of hoarder), and they wouldn't ring them in because the girl was signed off of the till, so someone had to carry them up to the front. When they rung then in, the price came up as $26.99. I said "Woah, wait a minute, the tag on the shelf said $13.99!" I was told the price was what they scanned at, and they wouldn't even follow their "scannign code fo prctice" rules that are posted right at every till. Needless to say I left without any .22 ammo.

Had this happen a couple years ago at my local CT. After trying to explain to the cashier without success, I asked her to open the brick and scan the individual 50 round box.
It got sorted out.

I love a good deal but... (not holier than thou) just couldnt do it.

Anyways, you did try to correct it, so great deal.

Same thing happened to me at Walmart , but it
was Winchester 22shorts . I spent the next 2 hours
driving to 4 different walmarts looking for same
deal but with no luck

I was buying brake line at CT last year and the clerk had one roll left. When I asked how much, the guy scanned it and he said something like $1.40. He smiled and said 'I'm pretty sure that's per foot'. I agreed but he said to take it to the cash and see how it scans. The cashier rang it in and I happily paid the tax on my $1.40 coil of brake line!!! Another time last year was at Walmart when I bought a roll of silver solder (can't believe they stock it!). It rang out at $1.00! I then went back and bought the other 14 rolls!!!

Canadian tire wouldn't have chased you out even if the price was wrong. Canadian tire and a few other large retail stores like that have a policy where if it is priced wrong or advertised at an incorrect price that they are obliged to sell it to you at that price. I have got many things from CT at well below there cost due to them labeling things incorrect or having it advertised wrong. For example I picked up a Stanley socket and wrench set that was like 350$ originally for 50$ due to them having it advertised wrong, they for sure lost money on that one! Good find for you though! Too bad there wasn't more!

You gotta be kidding me right? CT isn't a small town, mom & pop's shop in which case I would have tipped my hat to you for doing so, but for a multi-million dollar company like CT...the tag says $3.79? My 1st question would have been, "do you have a crate of it in the backstore?"

However each store is individually owned. It isn't the corporation that loses, it is the individual store owner.

I'm totally ok with that! Our CT store scalps on CT $$, spend $678.00 and you get like $1.50 in CT money. So if I see that deal floating around..........gonna ask for all they got and then some :)

Once its sold its sold. They can't run you down in the parking lot because whatever moron that works there put the wrong price on it.
