Day 1 with my brand new Tavor

I really have no issue with the trigger. Its a battle trigger, with an intentionally long initial pull. But once you get used to the trigger reset, you can keep the pressure on for quick follow ups.

I agree that it's mostly workable, however, I have some rifles with "battle" triggers that are nowhere near as horrendous. I do concede that building a decent trigger for a bullpup is a bit of a challenge......

I just think it could be better....by quite a bit......

Maybe I'll get used to it, maybe not...

Is that what it's called? I was hesitant pulling and then .... Bang bang bang bang etc. glad to know I got it right. Daily use by the Idf must get some valuable feedback on pounds/pull?

TV press ... What happened to you selling your Tavor at the cheap price of just $2.8 billion dollars on EE??

;)

It likely buggers up the reset. No thanks.

Fair enough, I find you get used to the factory trigger after a while, though it is really heavy, its consistent. And like was said before when you get used to where the reset is its really not too bad. But i would definitely buy an aftermarket adjustable setup if one was made available. Id likely pay a decent price for it as well!

Congrats on the tavor. And don't let the trigger queens get you down. I have just under a thousand rounds through mine, and I find the trigger just fine. It doesn't bother me and I've yet to have someone who tries it complain about it. I have not had any problems with accuracy either. I shot a pop can at 157 m from standing with my Eotech on the first shot Friday. What more can a guy ask for? And I'm no marksman either.

I find it to be a helluva fun rifle and I hope you do too!

Keep us posted on your failure to fires? Your firing pin is spring loaded correct?

It's personal taste. Its actually really easy to unhook that spring without uninstalling it. After 3k-4k rounds through mine I tried removing it for winter shooting indoors, and so far am liking it. I may reattach the spring for summer camping though.

To anyone who is concerned about the Tavor trigger I always suggest: get a .223 snap cap and take 2 minutes before you go to bed to dry-fire your rifle.

Do it every night. Or as often as you can remember to.

Give it a week or two, and you'll have no problem with the Tavor trigger.

But expect a shock when you go back to your bolt rifles! I know I had a few premature trigger pulls because I'd spent a lot of time with the Tavor. :p

@Mat_dal123: That deal is still available to anyone who really wants those IDF parts and NV systems ;) I also have an X95 available for sale. $800, no shipping, must be able to pick-up from the masked trader in Southern Libya. May be lightly used/sanded.

I went and bought a few snap caps. The firing pin makes a perfect dot dead centre of the primer. Going to have to log which ammo and which magazine (I have 4 types of mags)

Very strange. FWIW I used gen 2 pmag, gen 3 pmag, USGI, lar and lar w magpul followers, all w no malfunctions. I did exclusively use the PMC though.

TVPP was kind enough to spend the afternoon with me showing me the ins and outs of the Tavor.

Did his Tavordar go off? You get home and he was knocking with a Tavor welcoming commity basket? He's like a ninja, a Tavor seeking ninja ;).

Nice rifle Samson, glad you had someone with experience nearby to help speed up the learning curve :D.

Haha that's quite a visual. :)

Man I was really hoping for a joke about how I'd be the Tavor obi-wan.

I mean, if Samson gets the Tar Wars Luke . . .

In other news! It looks like the gen 2 Canadian Tavors have the proper frames to accept 9mm conversion kits from IWI US! id want to try one out to be 100% certain. We should look at getting some up here this summer!

I seem to have a spare Tavor. If you are looking for something to play with. :)

Or maybe I should get it custom painted? A winter camouflage?

Or sell it.

Not yet.

The magwell will fit. I am certain of that.

The barrel will fit. I am 95% certain of that.

The 9mm blow-back BCG? Hard to say. I'd want to test it. If I had to right now I'd give it a soft 60% bet that the 9mm bolt and carrier could fit our rifles.
