What do you suggest "we" do? I sure soon as there is news you'll hear it here, he'll you hear it when there isn't any real news.

Does anybody have any news about ?

after the letter what are we doing ?

we have to do more ....

I don't know what more we could do aside from creating an organization that will lobby elected government officials for our firearm rights, just like the controversial NRA in the US. I know we have the NFA but frankly I don't see them doing much about this. has anyone even heard the NFA's position on this reclassification?

I think we need an organized, funded, experienced and aggressive lobby organization in Ottawa with a lawyer/power broker on staff who's sole purpose is to defend our firearm rights, maybe this can be done by the NFA maybe it can be done by something else.

If its a money issue then I'm sure all of us would have no problem with higher membership fees if it means we can aggressively defend our gun ownership rights.

and people cheered when the long gun registry was revoked.........
this was bound to happen next, bring back the registry?

Are you a member of the NFA?

If they do become prohib, a lawsuit should be the next thing, they can't get away with that. Who do they think they are

Oh yes they can, and they have...does the Benelli M90 ring any bells. Went from non-restricted to prohibited, all rounded up by the RCMP courteous of the registry and the real kick in the nuts, with NO COMPENSATION

Looks like they are going prohib. Just waiting to see if they will make a new prohib class, pay you for turning them in, or just take them. There is bugger all chance that they are staying non-restricted.

On the bright side this is likely putting a lot of heat on the RCMP and might get the system changed in some way.

What makes you think they got them all??

Where are you getting this info, or are you just sitting down and quitting?

Talk to your representatives, MAIL out letters and donate or join to the CSSA and NFA. I have donated before but just went and bought 2 year memberships to both. I'm not made of money but EVERY little bit they can get helps. The NFA is supposedly working with TSE and CSC to provide the RCMP with info to support the Swiss Arms being a variant of the Sig 540, NOT the 550.

No, nothing is set in stone. Their status is currently under review, and waiting on technical info from TSE and Swiss Arms. The FRT has, to the best of my knowledge, not been pulled yet, and might not be, pending the information provided to the FRT lab.

If they do go prohib the last thing I want is to be grandfathered. I bought this rifle because it was non restricted. I want to continue to take it out in the bush and shoot it wherever it is safe to do so. I don't want a $3500 paperweight.
If they go prohib I want to be compensated for the full retail value of my rifle, my magazines and all my accessories including taxes. I don't care if it's the RCMP (tax dollars) or the importers that pay for it as long as it isn't coming out of my pocket. I also don't care if it bankrupts the retailers involved since as far as I'm concerned this is their responsibility and their error that has put us where we are.
I did nothing other than buy a non restricted rifle that I've been dreaming of owning for years and then someone screwed up and gave the RCMP the ammo they needed to initiate an investigation. Now I'm looking at either losing that rifle or becoming a criminal if I keep it. There is no paper trail to me since I bought it used but I don't want to risk losing all my rifles just to keep this and hide it away and never use it.

I can think of many better places to have $4000 tied up than in a conversation piece that just makes me angry explaining how I used to be able to take this out and use it as a non restricted then one day between the @$$clowns in the RCMP lab, the local importers and Swiss Arms themselves that let a few C/A uppers slip through with the regular shipments F'd it up for all of us.
If these go prohib you will be lucky to get $1000 for one since there will be very few people out there that can buy one and even fewer willing to spend $3000 for a paperweight.

From what I've read in all the posts in all the threads so far I'm not expecting this to work out well for us but I'm hoping someone can pull a rabbit out of their @$$ and save this disaster from turning into a burning pile of $hit.

It's not looking good for us and from the sounds of it the RCMP have a few more on their list.

I have yet to hear a word from the NFA or CSSA and am hoping they are busy building a defense rather than posting here to keep us updated.

Who cares and you're missing the point. Confiscation in the past was done with the aid of the registry. As for the current non-restricted SAN owners and no registry, your comment may be valid. Hopefully the RCMP will keep the status quo with the SAN rifles and everyone can get back to #####in about their cost :p
