and here she is all cleaned up with new s&w rubber grips... oddly enough the stock grips were not torqued on and are fully intact if anyone wants em?
i do find that the slide release is super stiff. i am not sure how to break that in... any tips?

Where did you get your grips? how much?

*ahem*

After all this hullaballoo is over, and we all have our prized 1911s in our possession, would anyone be interested in starting a thread about

what we all have done with / experienced / encountered??? Personally, I would like to keep in touch with everyone, and hear their experiences

and of course see pictures of what they've accomplished! Anyone else in this boat?

Haha just got my registration card in the mail. Not even the notice of a transfer - just the final straight up registration. I think this is the first time I have ever got that before the gun. Cool!

I don't need one, so I held off on ordering, but they still have some and I need ammo so I couldn't hold out any longer. Ordered so now I can complain about how long it takes to arrive too.:)

Aah, that is probably nothing to worry about, then. I didn't realize the barrels were chrome plated (bonus). It just means they're not ENTIRELY chrome plated on the outside :)

I'm thinking I might get my slide plated at work one weekend. The rub? No chrome plate. We do copper and silver plating :)

Here's a pic of my barrel. I don't think that I'm too worried about the integrity of the metal; it just looks like a poor finishing job. Of course, it will be in the back of my mind when I take that first shot .... when I get the reg.

I do have one other question....since this is my first 1911. I noticed that the magazine will not fully seat when empty...I have to depress the mag release to seat an empty mag. Is this normal or do I have to do an adjustment? (I will be pulling it apart to work the trigger a bit)

Well I can finally say this....

Ordered May 2nd
CC charged May 9th
Transfer May 27th
Approved June 6th
Gun in Hand June 18th
Throat Surgery June 19th
Bed rest 2 weeks

When I get out of the hospital and im good to go Ill post pictures. I gave it a once over and everything looked good ever the grips weren't cracked. I ordered other grips so if there is anyone out there that didnt order grip I have a set that you can have. Just give me a pm and when im better ill mail them out. Cheers

I have numerous orders in with Canada Ammo dating back to May 3rd. Still no sign of them being shipped. I wrote them numerous emails and just today I received a reply telling me they had so many orders and CFO's that they just didn't get around to them all. I have one order for ammo only, Been out of 9mm for over a month. Another one is for 22 cal. Been out of that also for over a month. Also have a Shotgun ordered, No need for CFO on that, Have not received yet. I could understand the delay on the handgun which is up to the discretion of the CFO, Don't even know if that is transferred yet. Not a happy shopper. Just to compare, I ordered a Savage rifle from Cabella's on the 11th June, Received it today the 18th June. It came from Winnipeg to BC and only took a week to process, ship and deliver. Quite a comparison in service. Think I will stick with Cabellas from now on. It has been so long since I was at the range that I forget how that bang- bang goes. Also I forget what burned gunpowder smells like.
