I've emailed twice about a minor issue and once abou a major issue. No replies. Been two weeks since the minor issue and a week since the major issue...
While I'm waiting for the combo to get the transfer permit and shipping, a project is to make some grips. Started with some orangewood, and a lot of sanding and a little dremel work later, here's the progress report. Next: finer sandpaper to smooth out the (60 grit) sanding marks and bring it a little closer to the right thickness. Then, position the holes, use those to screw them onto a backing of some kind and then do some engraving. What pattern to make... Hmm..
Have sanded the grip bits to shape with #40, smoothed it a bit with 80, 100, 150 and finally 220. May go to 320 but I've indexed the undersides of the panels for the screw holes and hope to use those to bolt the thing down while I do a little carving on them. Helps keep me from being impatient waiting for the Ont CFO to send me the approval papers.

I have the Hogue and I love it.
Thanks Karl. I only have the 50cal cans and I keep the ammo in the Norinco boxes but my guess would be 1000-1100 loose .45 rounds.
In regards to the locks themselves, they fit kinda loosely and flop around a bit, but they do work preventing the can from opening
making them a touch more secure.

Definitely not a Hogue...they are made of plastic..not hardened rubber or even neoprene...might as well keep the stock grips on....they're hard plastic without the finger grip.

Thanks for the reply, CeeZed... I'll be stopping in to Princess Auto tomorrow for a replacement buffing wheel and some compound.
I'll probably get another 50 Cal can or two at the same time! Hope they have some nice ones.

What!!!! My transfer was approved on June 7th, I e-mailed them about it and sent it to them the next week (once I found out it was approved). I have received the transfer notification in the mail already, but still no shipment from CanAm. They say 48hrs with notification of transfer, but it has been over a week since they got mine.

Join the club! My transfer was complete June 7 and no word or reply to emails. I am kinda on the spot because I will be leaving town for work for a month and I was trying to make arrangement with Can Am on delivery. Disappointed in the communication since I have waited patiently and now I am running out of time. I have spent over 10 grand at Can Am through the years and only expect a reply from them!

Great idea! I wish I had the tools in my tiny apartment to do the same. One day.
