Chinese sks or RussianSKS

I've had my Chinese SKS for five years and have close to 3000 rounds through it without a single jam(bought from the same shop, Al Simmons)

Just bought Russian SKS from Al Simmons in Hamilton, Ontario and have around 200 gentle rounds through it, paid $200.

The reason I bought the Russian was the quality of the machining on the bolt and the receiver and the stock
was much nicer than my Chinese, the real bonus of the Russian is the crisp trigger. The Chinese trigger is very
gritty. Oh and the gas tube on the Russian has a beautiful shape to it plus you get a sling and some other
historical bits and pieces which are nice. The Russian has oodles of Character when compared to the
Chinese.

I hadn't planned to buy this gun but I'm very happy I did and it is now my favorite.
(you need to extend the stock with a recoil pad to increase the length of pull, the
Chinese front sight adjustment tool needs to be heavily modified to work on the
Russian)

Not the old Russian #1 2 or 3 on the front sight rating of accuracy myth again.
That # was for production tolerance purposes only, not related to quality at all. Just Google it.

I don't like Chinese copies. Buy the original. Look at the m305 people have all kinds of problems with the quality on so e of them. It all depends on if the factory workers are on opium that day. Assembly by Chinese can be spot on or shotty at best. Besides I would rather support the Russian mafia than the children working in the factory in china. I know the kids have to eat too. So buy both.

If you are keeping it as a collectible the Russian one is what you want. Anything that says made in Chinese is never collectable.

Get both, I have Russian and it works flawless, I have put 3700 rounds through iT and decided to replace the gas tube for $10, that's about it.

This week I ordered the Chinese one from CANAM $399 for sks and 1200 rounds, good deal, could not pass it up.

So by both, double the fun.

I have two Russians and one Chinese. The Russians are definitely the "prettier" guns, but if I had to pick one to keep I honestly think I'd take the Chinese. Maybe it's just because I got it brand new unissued, but the thing is just rock solid with a really nice feeling action and shoots great. It's my go-to SKS. Love the Russians though, they have very purty stocks..

I stripped and sanded my Chinese SKS's stock, followed with oil stain and tung oil finish and it's as purty as can be! Solid constuction and shoots like a dream. My biased vote goes to Chinese ;)

I did the same with mine as the finish was crap.
Went with a nice red stain, looks like a champ capitalist-pig killer now.

I found the opposite with the Chinese and Russian ones, although when buying the Russian ones you can check on the front sight what the accuracy rating is on the gun, they are stamped with a 1, 2, or 3, 1 obviously being the most accurate.
I recently read this as well! Surprising, I looked, & I see a 1! Yeaah! I picked up my Russian, NO Refurb marks what-so-ever, no ### in stock All #'s matching, Looks new,unissued-at Orangeville Gun SHow for $200! ..(with all goodies & 20rounds Surplus) I also had a Chinese one 10 years ago & never had any problems with it. Looking for a Chinese one as well, since I dont want to bubba the Russian, ;) ..being all new n shiny. I'd get one of each! I heard from a few people, the Chinese has a smoother trigger. There are lots of them out there..tons..for sale throughout this site(dealers & EE) & for great deals. Good Luck!
