How many rounds on average would you say before you need to clean the gun?

Most importantly, How many rounds can you put through her untill she is too dirty and starts to FTF?

Thanks,

I clean it around 500 rds or when I'm in the mood.. it never FTF's but I bet you could shoot a 1,000 and it would still function fine
+1
I clean it every 500-800 rounds. No performance issues for me.

Out of curiosity, a friend of mine let his go for a few thousand rounds before some negative effects showed up. Can't remember when or what it was.

To be honest, I usually clean mine about every 2 months, or before a major event. With the competitions and action league, it's probably 1200ish rounds between cleanings.

I must be doing it wrong. If I go over 400, I start to have issues with the feeding ramp. FTF with the nose of the bullet right into the center of the feeding ramp stuck in the carbon. Thick layer of carbon around the edges of the ramp, silverish spot in the middle where the carbon layer is purple and glossy right where the nose is stuck.

I put about 400 thru mine without a single hiccup. I cleaned it when I bought it and just cleaned it tonight. The feed ramp was dirty and it took a bit to get it clean but nothing too crazy. What kind of ammo are you shooting?

Polish your feed ramp.

*2 i do the same no matter what even one mag which never happens but i always clean my guns after shooting always

Well, of course I cleaned / lubed it before I used it the first time. After that - I clean the pistol after every visit to the range.

Never had an issue with the firearm ...

Well it keeps the gun cleaning manufacturers happy, but Gun Smiths I've talked to seem to go way the other way and chid me when I say about 500 rds..

But petting is important.. :)

This:
Cleaning isn't as important as making sure there is oil in it. it could be coated in crap and oil the slide rails and a couple spots and it will keep working for another long time.

Keep all the moving parts well lubricated with your favourite lube and you can go a very long time before crud buildup will start to induce stoppages.

The 2,000 round challenge is a good "stress test" of a pistol's reliability:

I have BEEN cleaning my guns every 2-300 rounds. But ive been feeling guilty about it. Now I dont feel so guilty. The new Shadowline ive got coming WILL get cleaned after every range trip. Im not going to spend this much on a gun just leave it in the safe dirty. BUT... my other 2... they can take it.
