Beowulf VS Pmag comparison + Awesome Bonus!

CAA is coming on strong. Beowulf mags. Atrs pistol mags by caa. Going to give magpul a good run for the money north of the 49.

No run for my money at double the cost of a pmag. Until they stop charging 2x or more for everything that says Beowulf I'll be spending my money on other things.
I am tempted to try the CAA pistol mags at ATRS for $28 though, it's still a little pricey but not unreasonable.

Alberta Tactical Rifle sells the 10 round polymer CAA AT15 mag for 28.00. I have since sold off all my 10 rd lar 15 mags. Totally happy with these mags other than the trouble loading with a closed bolt. Not a 14-17 rd Beowulf.. but not a bad 10 rd solution.

No PRICEY is the cost of having molds made to have these mags made for us. The good folks at CAA strangely did not want to suck up the $15000.00 for the costs of having all of the molds made for making our mags.

True, but you cant deny the progression with our firearms laws that all of these mags are producing. Eventually supply and demand will even out.

$28 is what some places sell LAR mags for. And pmags. Local store is selling pmags for $22 each. For $6 I can double capacity and still get a polymer mag that feels like a 20 round mag. Worth it to me.

I would pay $150 for that same companies Beowulf mag though. Seeing as CAA 223 pistol mgs, and CAA rifle 20 and 30 round pistol mags are all in that $24 to $28 range, I have a hard time figuring out what is so special production wise for CAA to justify $50 for the CAA Beowulf mags.

I'm only left with supply and demand as a reason why they are $50.

Question: Is there a .50 beowulf AR-15 pistol? And shouldn't a proprietary 10 rd magazine exist for this pistol... I mean, it's only logical.

There is nothing special, simply the supply does not exist. Weird since CAA doesnt seem to have a problem supplying AT-15 magazines. Would be interesting to know if the bottleneck was CAA, Alexander Arms, The border, or what.

Like I said a little pricey but not unreasonable. I can understand a new product being a little more money per unit to compensate for the costs involved.
I would pay $28 for a mag but I won't be buying 10 of them. When I come for my matched upper/lower from you for my build I'm sure I'll be taking one or two of the AT-15 mags with me if you have them in stock.

So if they make the CAA AT-15 from a new mold and it retails for $28.00 then explain why the Beowulf mag that needed all the same things such as the new mold to create it and the labor to produce it and package it resulted in a $50 mag. Sounds like the Beowulf tax again.

Everyone is well aware that the added cost has nothing to do with the physical costs. Its all about supply and demand. No supply, high demand, that's all there is to it.

Understood just wanted you to be aware of the costs to get the 1st 1 made. The rest were much less expensive.

On the Beowulf mag I am not convinced that different molds were requires. These are really only a 30 round mag body with a slightly modified follower. The 1s I have seen do not have any molded in internal follower block, extended follower or different base plate, like ours do.
I can inquire of CAA and see what the cost to us would be on these, to add a bunch to our existing order of AT15 Pistol mags would not be difficult to do.
I think gouging is the true answer, but it is easy to find out.

I'll be the homeless guy sleeping on your shops door step if you are bringing these in haha.

Has anyone been able to get .50Beowulf brass or snap caps yet? I don't want use a mag pinned to 5 rounds of Beowulf unless I can prove that it only holds 5 rounds.

.50 AE is the parent case for the .50 Beowulf, you could use those, certainly easier to find and they demonstrate the ability of the mag to only hold 5 rounds of .50 ammo, whether it's actually .50 Beowulf is irrelevant.

Andrew.
