The 6.5 Creedmoor, the 260 done right....

Sorry for the picture, this is a beautifull rifle, when i asked Sean for a rifle i told him i wanted one like yours, i like the 6.5 Creedmoor, having one in TC Precision Hunter and all ready all set to reload for that caliber, the 75 or so rounds i shot with it really impress me, hopefully i will get a rifle that can give a run for it's money to my Nemesis... JP.

No worries for the picture, it has seen a bit of air time actually. You will enjoy your new rifle I am sure, This is my third rifle from Sean and I am enthusiastically awaiting my fourth. All have been shooters so I see no reason yours wouldn't be.
 
This combo TC & 6.5 Creedmoor gave me great results, at our lake, i shot many times at this coffee can at 800 yards accross the lake and a lot went in, this was with Hornady 129 gr SST, so i know this caliber rock... JP.

... And since there is a great factory ammo availability, i think of it to be a + for someone that reload less and less ( time consuming activity)... JP.
 
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this yet but you can simply make 6.5cm brass from lapua if you really want lapua brass.

For those suggesting 6.5x47 have you Any experience in cold weather with it? Any problems with ignition in say -30c if for some crazy reason you actually go hunting with said rifle? I too have all the parts for a 6.5 build and am unsurance of the small primers. Will most likely go 260rem.
 
Using CCI 450 magnum small rifle primers would likely address the cold weather concern.
I use them routinely in my 6.5X47, 6BR and .223.
 
I have heard several times that the 22 CHeetah had problems in the cold which is why I am not 100% confident on the 6.5x47. How cold have you shot that 6.5x47? Any fps fluctuations on cold weather? Consistent ignition and no change in accuracy?

I haven't shot either of my 6.5X47's in weather below 20C, so can't comment on variation based on temperature. However, as noted, using the CCI 450 magnum primer as well as one of the more temperature stable powders (H4350, Varget, etc.) would likely mitigate any variation.
 
The first batch of ammo just showed up from SFCR, thanks to Ryan and staff for the 2 days delivery and great packaging, 160 rounds of Hornady 120 gr GMX, 2 more orders of ammo and my custom... Lets the game begin... JP.

Your statement on the 6.5 lapua not firing in cold weather, that statement. Did you hear that from a friend who heard it from a guy that read it on the internet? It's a bunch of bs.

I didn't make a statement on the 6.5lm not firing in cold weather. I voiced my concern based on what happened with the CHeeta case which is a 308 size case with a small primer. I then asked for anyone that had said 6.5lm to share their experience shooting said cartridge in say -30. You obviously have one as you are dismissing my concern and can only do so with certainty based on real world experience. So would you please answer my questions regarding cold weather and the small primer in the 6.5x47 case? Changes in accuracy, es/sd changes, loss of speed etc. There are lots of threads regarding my question on longrangehunting, snipershide etc with some people reporting no issues but not when it's really cold out and others reporting the opposite. Since there is conflicting data regarding my question and since the CHeeta and 308 palma do have confirmed issues I was curious what people that have done what I asked about had to say about it.

Please feel free to share your experiences.

Thanks for the reply. I used the 450's in the winter in my 223 and compared to the 400's I had much worse ES/SD.
 
so your generalization is that small rifle primers will not ignite in cold weather? Could you be more specific? Seems like a comment backed by much ignorance.

I'm not generalizing that small rifle primers will not ignite in cold weather. I'm asking if there are issues with the 6.5x47 in cold weather and the question comes up since the CHeeta and 308 palma do have an issue in cold weather. Please share your experiences with the 6.5x47 in cold (-30 or so) temps and please answer the questions I posed above to the best of your ability.

Fair enough, I would say no. I have a hunting rifle that is chambered in the aforementioned calibre, and have had no issue. Nor have I heard of such issues. If there were an issue, which could be applied to any and all primers, it could be attributed to something as simple as a bad lot of primers.

Not sure what your "books" means. But what about 6.5-284, 264 Win Mag, etc..?

Side note, I LOVE my 260 Rem.
