I've dreamed about this concept stock for such a long time. Imagine...a light stock that can handle the AICS magazines (both .223 and .308 variants). Laz (MDT Tac21 dude) is a great guy and we musta gotten into his head and now he is making these renditions.

I can take my 20" SPS Tac .223 groundhogging, coyote hunting, and of course shooting in www.dcra.ca 's NSCC Service Rifle matches. I'm good to go!

First impressions, nice box, fast mailing because the mailing notice said arrival was gonna be 16 Sep , and it landed here on the Friday the 13th, yesterday. Must be a good omen. I opened the box without drooling too much, I was sweating like a bugger! Hey, you guys like that laptop with the Magpul sticker? Yuk yuk yuk

Look at the screws in a small ziploc bag. Nice touch.

Then I busted open the required allen keys/wrenches for the necessary assembly process. First up was to install the pistol grip. Little did I know that this would take the longest part....

I found the 3rd, 4th, and 5th turns of the Allen key to be the hardest. I backed out the screw and investigated... maybe the machining was not thorough enough but on closer inspection, I had to 'chase' the threads with the screw so here we go....

Being one of the M14 geeks here on the CGN forum, I greased the threads liberally and proceeded to install the pistol grip screw by working the bolt back and forth. No sweat. Have a look at the fine pictures of the great FDE finish. I wanted FDE for the cool factor. The FASHION POLICE will be monitoring me at the DCRA National Matches, so I gotta ensure everything matches. ha ha ha ha ha :D

Pistol grip is done and all is tight. MDT folks say that the beavertail (I actually read Laz's instructions) pistol grip were not intended or recommended and I deliberately tried the beavertail backstrap of my Magpul Koolaid MIAD grip. Life is good. I ain't complaining. The wait was absolutely worth it. The $ 429 shipped price (or something like that) was so worth it because now I have KOOL FACTOR, even if my scores may suck at the Nationals. :ninja: ha ha ha ha

And here is my back up Precision Rig (shooting 68's and 69's at Connaught) or my Groundhog gun (shooting 50 gr Vmax boooolits at earthpigs and coyotes) or my 2014 NSCC Service Rifle shooting 68 gr Hornady HPBT boolits.

I am really impressed with this unit. Everything MDT promised, they delivered.

My final advice: Don't get ONE! But Get TWO of them. I might just install my Surgeon .260 Rem into this baby.

What I really enjoyed most of all is installing this unit and realizing that it's dead easy to install. Now I can heartily recommend this product at my Precision Snipe...oops Rifle Clinics and tell people you don't need to spend a PILE of $$ to enjoy yourself.

Just imagine starting in the PR game...

* Rem M700 SPS Tac in .308 or .223 (comes with 9" twist barrel for 68's and 69's booolits) $700ish
* Scope rail in 0 MOA rise or 20 MOA rise $ 100 ish
* Bushnell Mildot 10x40 for $ 250ish
* MDT Tac21 chassis $ 430ish
* Couple of AICS mags for $90ish

Now you can have a very versatile mag - fed rifle and STILL Look KOOL!

Younger shooters raised on COD (call of duty games) will love this because they can install whatever Magpul PTS or Airsoft variant on their MDT LSS and enjoy the game. What's not to like?

I love the modularity of the AR Carbine tubes included into the design because now my and my Magpul KoolAid Koncept will fit right in and I will just LOOK cooler at the matches. ha ha ha ha ha :pirate:

Hey, TAC21 (that's Laz's handle here):

Ya hit the homerun right outta the ball park! I'm super stoked to be writing this fer ya...

I hope this helps the KOOL Factor, if not the fun factor; and that's what it's all about.

Cheers and keep helping the newbies here on CGNutz!

So, riddle me this. If you're using an adjustable stock, and the receiver extension tube has no buffer/spring in it, could you turn it into a storage tube? Generally speaking there's probably not much you'd be replacing in the field, but it's the thought that counts.

Anyhow, I like it, I love it. I'm about to call MDT and sing them bad karaoke until they ship it to me.

I have one for the savage on order. I cant wait. man these look good for 400$...

I take it the $400.00 doesn't include the buffer tube, pistol grip and stock? They seem like a good price until you have to get those parts.

There is no other option for the Savage 10... unless you want to fork out 1000$ for a McMillan stock. so 400$ is more then fair... MOE Grip 20$ A2 buffer Tube 20$ I ordered a Magpul PRS stock for 250$ but you can put a 60$ Magpul CTR .... Im still way under the 1000$ and even a McMillan stock requires you to use bottom metal that runs 250$... plus bedding and fitting.

And theirs always the AICS stock. That no one seems to stock. im sure that will be 1000+ as well.

The price point these are at is nothing short of amazing. I've been looking for the past 2 years for a replacement stock for my 10-FCPK. Im glad I waited.

Is the fcp-k bolt release going to work with that stock?

Yeah. Had these stocks, at $400, been available a couple of years ago, I don't think I would have invested as much time and effort beefing up the tupperware stock the rifle came with, bedding it, and buying and installing Atlasworkx DBM to it. This is a welfare rifle owners wetdream, even with having to add a grip, buffer tube and stock, all of which are already on hand from spare AR parts.

There wont be a bolt release. The good news is the 10-FCPK still retains the bolt in when the release is removed.

I had to remove it quite some time ago to install my Rifle Basix trigger. And I learned to live without it.

Just got this email :

Savage is on the machines right now, but it will be a few more weeks before it is anodized and painted.

When I first saw this concept a while back I thought it would be a great platform for a F-class build. NOW if Laz will design/make a single shot unit without the mag for the Effers it would be awesome @ ~1.5lbs you could load up on other equipment. It is definitely something I would consider for a future build.

Error my friend, you should have looked at XLR Industries

Can't weight until my Savage one gets here :(

Hungry, looks awesome! Really curious on the total weigh in? I've also dreamed about having a chassis pretty much exactly like this for quite some time, I'm so happy to see one on the market, and it's Canadian! Should make an awesome walking around rig.

EC, $400 plus the other bits is still a killer price, especially for Savages like Dilligaf pointed out. I was going to go with a Choate tactical before MDT announced the LSS, I also really wanted AICS mag compatibility. So say $325 for a basic stock and $250 for a bottom metal kit, and I'm already over what my LSS setup is costing me. If you compare a LSS with a PRS vs. a Choate tactical custom you are very similar in price and adjustability, and you can use AICS mags right out of the box. This seems like a win to me. Plus overall, I love the styling and the weight.
