I've dreamed about this concept stock for such a long time. Imagine...a light stock that can handle the AICS magazines (both .223 and .308 variants). Laz (MDT Tac21 dude) is a great guy and we musta gotten into his head and now he is making these renditions.
I can take my 20" SPS Tac .223 groundhogging, coyote hunting, and of course shooting in www.dcra.ca 's NSCC Service Rifle matches. I'm good to go!
First impressions, nice box, fast mailing because the mailing notice said arrival was gonna be 16 Sep , and it landed here on the Friday the 13th, yesterday. Must be a good omen. I opened the box without drooling too much, I was sweating like a bugger! Hey, you guys like that laptop with the Magpul sticker? Yuk yuk yuk

Look at the screws in a small ziploc bag. Nice touch.
Then I busted open the required allen keys/wrenches for the necessary assembly process. First up was to install the pistol grip. Little did I know that this would take the longest part....

I found the 3rd, 4th, and 5th turns of the Allen key to be the hardest. I backed out the screw and investigated... maybe the machining was not thorough enough but on closer inspection, I had to 'chase' the threads with the screw so here we go....
Being one of the M14 geeks here on the CGN forum, I greased the threads liberally and proceeded to install the pistol grip screw by working the bolt back and forth. No sweat. Have a look at the fine pictures of the great FDE finish. I wanted FDE for the cool factor. The FASHION POLICE will be monitoring me at the DCRA National Matches, so I gotta ensure everything matches. ha ha ha ha ha

Pistol grip is done and all is tight. MDT folks say that the beavertail (I actually read Laz's instructions) pistol grip were not intended or recommended and I deliberately tried the beavertail backstrap of my Magpul Koolaid MIAD grip. Life is good. I ain't complaining. The wait was absolutely worth it. The $ 429 shipped price (or something like that) was so worth it because now I have KOOL FACTOR, even if my scores may suck at the Nationals.
ha ha ha ha

And here is my back up Precision Rig (shooting 68's and 69's at Connaught) or my Groundhog gun (shooting 50 gr Vmax boooolits at earthpigs and coyotes) or my 2014 NSCC Service Rifle shooting 68 gr Hornady HPBT boolits.

I am really impressed with this unit. Everything MDT promised, they delivered.
My final advice: Don't get ONE! But Get TWO of them. I might just install my Surgeon .260 Rem into this baby.
What I really enjoyed most of all is installing this unit and realizing that it's dead easy to install. Now I can heartily recommend this product at my Precision Snipe...oops Rifle Clinics and tell people you don't need to spend a PILE of $$ to enjoy yourself.
Just imagine starting in the PR game...
* Rem M700 SPS Tac in .308 or .223 (comes with 9" twist barrel for 68's and 69's booolits) $700ish
* Scope rail in 0 MOA rise or 20 MOA rise $ 100 ish
* Bushnell Mildot 10x40 for $ 250ish
* MDT Tac21 chassis $ 430ish
* Couple of AICS mags for $90ish
Now you can have a very versatile mag - fed rifle and STILL Look KOOL!
Younger shooters raised on COD (call of duty games) will love this because they can install whatever Magpul PTS or Airsoft variant on their MDT LSS and enjoy the game. What's not to like?
I love the modularity of the AR Carbine tubes included into the design because now my and my Magpul KoolAid Koncept will fit right in and I will just LOOK cooler at the matches. ha ha ha ha ha
Hey, TAC21 (that's Laz's handle here):
Ya hit the homerun right outta the ball park! I'm super stoked to be writing this fer ya...
I hope this helps the KOOL Factor, if not the fun factor; and that's what it's all about.
Cheers and keep helping the newbies here on CGNutz!
