I'll never buy a Glock

I have a Gen 4, .40 cal G35. Love it. Have had absolutely no issues with it after a couple thousand rounds and running it really hard.

The beaver tail back strap is pretty darn cool. The Glock rep, (who I have dealings with through work) sent me one after a conversation lamenting that the Glock was not the most comfortable pistol I've ever tried. I quite like it. :D

Sorry I could not resist! I love my Gen4 G17... it's my go-to range working gun. Bears are present in the back stop at the w ww.milcun.com range, so we are advised to carry a pistol on the vest/belt and have a mag handy. :D

Now if I could only get someone in the GTA to sell me some fiber optic sights and then install them for me....

While I'm no fan of plastic guns, I felt obligated to own at least one. Not a big fan of the ergonomics but with the Lonewolf barrel, she's pretty a pretty good shooter... yes, I shoot it better than my preferred 92FS. As they say, One and Done... my only tupperware gun I will own... for now? :p
 
Every time I've shot a Glock, I've hated the way it felt in my hands. I also think it's ugly as sin. These are why I never plan to buy a Glock. The only Glock I'd ever buy is if they made a 1911.
 
I bought a Glock last week and I am impressed by it's trigger group design (not the trigger). The trigger housing is all plastic........except of course for the bar and the spring. there is nothing to it....Amazingly simple. Clearly not the best trigger, but it works.
I can see why this thing is so cheap to make, repair, take down. Definitely a different beast when compared to my favourite HK. A blind monkey could fix a Glock.

I shot both back to back the other day and:
A couple things I do not like about the G17, the sights and the mag release. My MP9 had a better mag release, the G17 is very hard to push down and not as comfortable or easy to reach, this is a G17Gen4.
Grip angle, I do not notice anything weird about it, in fact the angle of G17 and HK is exactly the same. I think the hump might push the grip UP depending on different hand types, so it will vary depending on that I guess. It seems to work great for me, the hump fills the bottom of my palm and the thing shoots straight. It is easy to shoot, I shoot better with my HK.
The G17 sights are very ####ty when compared to my HK.
The G17 ergos are not BAD, but not as good as my HK. The G17 fits my hand very well. I like how low it is in comparison to my Hk, not by much but there is a difference.
The g17 polymer is clearly different when compared to the HK. This is a non-issue since it has been proven they do not brake, but HK is has gone a step further, the frame does no flex at all, specially in the dust cover where the Glock does (pig nose). Whether this is good or not, it is not relevant I think, the Polymer on the G17 is clearly different from anything else I have seen, with probably the MP9 being close to it quality wise. The best polymer I have seen (in a striker fired) is the one that Walther uses, with HK being at the very top (although it is not striker fired).

One thing I liked about the G17 which I was a bit skeptical about, parts availability. Very easy to find and buy, no hassle. That is a big + specially for us in Canada.

So I bought a g17,...bottom line is, I like the fact that I can appreciate even more my HK after I look/shoot the G17...so different from each other, they don't even compare.... Two different designs, two different firearms quality wise. It is like comparing a Honda Civic vs BMW... :nest: So yes, they both go from A to B, but they don't even compare.

I wonder if anybody would be interested in seeing a video about the internals//design of both gun. I could make one.

As far as reliability//ejection//brass in the face. None. My cam pro loads (light) ejected properly to the right, 5 o clock, 3-5 feet away. So it is ok for now, it seems to work as it should.

After i got my G17, i realized how good those were, got a G21 and i intend of getting one in each caliber available including the 10mm and the 357 Sig, those are awsome machines... JP.
 
IMO…Glocks have the fastest/best trigger reset feature for practical shooting. I have other HG's with crisper triggers for shooting slow/bullseyes.
 
I bought a Gen4 G20 a couple weeks ago because I couldn't resist the LE/Mil discount price from PoliceOrdnance.com

Haven't fired it yet, though, this Friday being the first chance.

First impression holding it is not the best. I don't at all mind that it's plastic, but I don't like that you can see a lot of daylight through the slide and the base. I don't like the grip texture, either, but I think they're going for people who wear gloves (I prefer bare hands).

I got it for the reputation for practically 100% reliability, though, so as long as it fires every round without a stoppage I'll be happy. Good news is that it's still 100% and hasn't failed once!
 
Well, you have to at least have one glock in your collection. The daylight through the slide contributes to its reliability like the way the 92 FS has the big cut out in its slide. If you don't like the grip, put a huge over it. Anyway, don't say you don't like it yet... Give her a fair try ;)

Yeah, the Hogue grip was the "in" thing to do overseas, too, for the 9mm Browning.

If I can't stand the texture when I'm shooting it, I'll definitely go that route. I think I had to take off the side plates on the browning, though, so when you put a sleeve on the Glock, does it not get absurdly fat?

PS - Something tells me that with your avatar, you may be slightly biased, good sir!
 
I see... The houge definitely beefs up the grip even more :( Honestly, shoot it first before purchasing it like you said. The texture feels good while shooting. It's not as rough as it looks. I have a 21 gen 4 and it's a little beefy for my liking too. Anyway, it's manageable.

Hahaha!!! Maybe slightly bias. I like glock becuase of their simplicity. It's a good gun and will last longer than you do. But my real favorite is Sig. The Rolls Royce of guns. When's the lotto max again!?
 
Owning a glock is like having a "FB". You won't marry her but when there's a need she's always there and reliable. :)

What's there not to love about a glock? They are cheap, parts are cheap and plentiful. They don't need a lot of maintenance and can run em dirty as hell!
 
The Glock is a keeper for sure. It's as nice as a hammer could be, but who cares. I will keep it for when I take friends to the range lol!
