Has anyone had this happen to them? It seemed very strange to me as I have NEVER had this happen before.

When the delivery driver came today he asked me what I was having delivered. Without thinking twice I told him it was a gun. So instead of asking for usual id he asked to see my FAC. Obviously meaning my PAL. Again just figuring I had to show id anyways I didn't question it. It wasn't until later I thought, what the hell was I thinking?

For starters it's none of his damn business what I am being delivered. And secondly what authority or qualification does he have to request my PAL? He obviously did not know what he was looking at as he did not look on the back to see that it is an RPAL not just a PAL. He didn't even know what he was delivering until I told him. He said those are different weigh bills and the only things they cover are guns, ammo, or marijuana. When I called his company (Loomis or part of DHL) they said he should not be asking those questions nor is that info required. They said a supervisor would check into it.

I have had guns left at my front door without a signature before but not this request. Maybe he thought he was the superhero of delivery guys. What if I didn't have it on me? Was he going to refuse to give me the package? When I called the store that I bought the gun from the salesman said I should have told him to pound salt. This is the first time I had a handgun delivered so I was unsure of the process. If it was marijuana was he going to ask for my medical license for it?

Make a complaint. The contents of your packages are personal, as long as they are legal to transport via mail. If it had been a strap-on, would he have asked you to try it on?

I did. We will see what comes of it. lol... good point about the strap-on...thank God that was last weeks delivery.

Very strange for him to ask, be cautious as he now knows your house has firearms....
should have told him it was a dildo and if he wanted to try it....LOL

what is in the box is private although the mail company can ask you what was in it if they lost the parcel. It has happened to me.
I would not just complaint because the company has no obligation in keeping a record about that, it is your word against theirs in the case this escalates to a higher level.

Point is, he now knows you have guns in your home, he does not need to know that. So with this being so weird, for starters I would consider calling your local police department and RCMP/CFO to ask them about this, god forbid, someone breaks in your home in the next few days and you happen to have your guns stolen now you have a record with the police and RCMP that you called about this.
There is lots of weirdos out there, one of those can be a delivery man, who knows.

That's a good thought and something to consider. I am not sure I want the cops in my house checking out my firearms even though I abide all storage laws. I can usually get a good sense of people and I did not get any sinister impression of the guy but you never really know. He is not the first person I have had ask. Most times I think it is just curiosity and nothing else. I think this guy had dreams of being a cop but ended up as a delivery driver. I would like to think he just didn't want a weapon to get in the hands of someone who isn't licensed. Not his friggin job.

"Hi, can I see your PAL."

"why don't you go play hide and go #### yourself.....now give me my ####ing package"

Maye he thought you were attractive

Sounds like he was fishing. Now he knows your Firearms licence number after seeing your PAL, plus he knows FOR SURE you now have guns. Time to call his supervisor to complain, and to tell them that if anything goes missing from now on, they are gonna be looked at first.

He never even looked at it long enough to memorize my number but the fact that he knows I have guns is a concern. He had enough sense not to allow my neighbor to sign for the package (took me a couple of minutes to get to the door) but then pulls a bonehead manouver. I have a call in to the supervisor and I hope all that is needed is a smack in the head. I will make sure he knows where the cops will look first should I be the victim of a B&E. God help him if I am home.
