Let us know what failures you have with the T97NSR? And after how many rounds?
I must admit you were right with the T97!
When I tried to remove the cosmoline, I used the Remington action clean product, which is designed for cleaning and degreasing firearms, but instead of cleaning it it stripped the whole finish of the metal parts of the gun (lower receiver, action, barrel...).
The rifle look like s***, and is really rough, and will probably rust very fast. I called remington and they told me that this product was the right one for the job, and that it is safe for the finish, and that it is the firearm's finish that is defective.
I then called the store and sent them pictures of the disaster, and they told me to bring the rifle back next week for a refund or an exchange, but they were nice enough to tell me that since the rifle will be discarded, I might as well shoot it and enjoy it a bit while I have it!
I think I'll go for the refund and hope that the ones from canada ammo will not have that defective finish, and I think I'll inform them of that problem, so they can make sure that theirs have a better coating.
as for the problems I had, of the 80 rounds I fired, 1 did not feed, and 2 had the bullet that recessed into the brass. The rest went well, and it actually is a nice rifle to shoot, even more confortable and smooth than my ar-15.
One thing I really dislike is the ejection of the brass that is ridiculously powerful, even at the lower setting, It went all over the place and landed on the shooter at the other end of the firing line!
As for the 1911, I shot around 80 round in this one too, and it seems to be a really great pistol for the price I paid.
I had 1 failure to feed while firing the pistol, and also, when I wanted to chamber the first round after a mag change, using either oem or dlask magazine, the front of the round would dive instead of going up into the chamber, hitting what I think is the feed ramp, and blocking the slide and pushing the bullet in the casing by a little bit, but the rest of the magazine was feeding normally. The feeding problem seemed less present when putting 1 round less than the magazine capacity, but it is not an option for me as the 1911 already have a low capacity compared with the 10 rounds I am used to with my 9mm, so I don't want to remove 1 round from an already small magazine. I was using PMC 230gn RN FMJ.
also, the feed lips of the norinco mag seems narrower than the dlask, and the bullet are harder to load into it.
How can I take care of that feeding problem? Is it common, and is it why I see a lot of people talking about polishing the feed ramp? if so, what is the procedure to fix it?
