Let us know what failures you have with the T97NSR? And after how many rounds?

I must admit you were right with the T97!
When I tried to remove the cosmoline, I used the Remington action clean product, which is designed for cleaning and degreasing firearms, but instead of cleaning it it stripped the whole finish of the metal parts of the gun (lower receiver, action, barrel...).
The rifle look like s***, and is really rough, and will probably rust very fast. I called remington and they told me that this product was the right one for the job, and that it is safe for the finish, and that it is the firearm's finish that is defective.
I then called the store and sent them pictures of the disaster, and they told me to bring the rifle back next week for a refund or an exchange, but they were nice enough to tell me that since the rifle will be discarded, I might as well shoot it and enjoy it a bit while I have it!
I think I'll go for the refund and hope that the ones from canada ammo will not have that defective finish, and I think I'll inform them of that problem, so they can make sure that theirs have a better coating.

as for the problems I had, of the 80 rounds I fired, 1 did not feed, and 2 had the bullet that recessed into the brass. The rest went well, and it actually is a nice rifle to shoot, even more confortable and smooth than my ar-15.
One thing I really dislike is the ejection of the brass that is ridiculously powerful, even at the lower setting, It went all over the place and landed on the shooter at the other end of the firing line!

As for the 1911, I shot around 80 round in this one too, and it seems to be a really great pistol for the price I paid.
I had 1 failure to feed while firing the pistol, and also, when I wanted to chamber the first round after a mag change, using either oem or dlask magazine, the front of the round would dive instead of going up into the chamber, hitting what I think is the feed ramp, and blocking the slide and pushing the bullet in the casing by a little bit, but the rest of the magazine was feeding normally. The feeding problem seemed less present when putting 1 round less than the magazine capacity, but it is not an option for me as the 1911 already have a low capacity compared with the 10 rounds I am used to with my 9mm, so I don't want to remove 1 round from an already small magazine. I was using PMC 230gn RN FMJ.
also, the feed lips of the norinco mag seems narrower than the dlask, and the bullet are harder to load into it.

How can I take care of that feeding problem? Is it common, and is it why I see a lot of people talking about polishing the feed ramp? if so, what is the procedure to fix it?

That's a pretty crazy story about yout T97. Up until now, all I've been hearing were rave reviews and how it's the best thing since sliced bread. in fact, I thought you were going to post Just Kidding at the end of it.

As far as your 1911 goes, I had the same issue with the factory Norinco mags. I'd have 7 rounds loaded and the first one wouldn't feed. It was never an issue with 6 round loaded in the mag. Someone told me I just had to break it in, but I got a pair of Dlask mags (with 8 round capacity) and the issue never reoccurred. Weird.

I don't know if it was necessary but I polished the feed ramp on the frame and barrel and have not had one single failure to feed with either the Norinco mags or my 8 round Dlask mag. Love the Dlask mag. Comparable to the much more expensive Wilson Combat mags. To be fair, my gun was working perfectly fine even before I polished the parts but I did it to refine the gun a bit more and ensure reliability. 650 rounds down range so far without any issues.

Just received the 1911 combo and used the rem action cleaner on it. It made short work of the cosmo, spraying it on then wiping off with a paper towel. Made sure to oil it immedietly after it dried. No harm to the finish at all.

< 2 weeks from time of order to my door for the combo.

I also used the rem action cleaner on the 1911 with not problem, but on the t97, it's a different story. it looks like someone painted it with a cheap spray can, and thinking of it, the finish with a spray can might have been of higher quality!!

I'm sorry but we are talking about Norinco 1911 Government Model, not T97

Yes, let's keep this on track. There are separate threads for the T97.

I'm interested in other peoples experience in tuning their Norinco 1911's. Does anyone know if the sear and hammer are through hardened or case hardened? I bought a sear jig and a set of stones from Brownells, and was going to start working on the stock Norinco sear and hammer. If it's only case hardened, I'm only going to use them to practice the stoning techniques. I already bought a set of Ed Brown sear and hammer (Brownells pulled the hammer pin from my order, so I have to reorder one or find one locally).

And yes, I have read some of the horror stories of 1911 trigger jobs gone wrong and testing your trigger job with one round in the mag, and then two rounds in the mag.

happy news!

bought and paid for my 499$ 1911 combo :)dancingbanana:) and all is done on all our ends.

That is to say, I received constant update via email, including the transfer reference number. I then called up the CFC, decent wait with bad hold music but still less than an hour, said hi to the gal and gave her that number only to have her tell me that my call was unnecessary. Just waiting for the CFO to do his thing, she suggested tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday?

I'm not fussed; at least I've done my part to get that hot little asian into my hands :dancingbanana:

By the way, I'm going to try browning this norincolt... dip in vinegar to remove the bluing, light flat sand, then an attentive attempt at a light 'Brown Bess' kind of hue. :) I have no idea how long that will take, maybe a week? And Pachmayrs.... yeaaaahhh pachmayrs...

FTW, gentlemen

Canpar for the win....Jeez... I stayed home specifically to receive the shipment. Not even twenty minutes ago (according to the packing tracking site) while i'm sitting in the kitchen the driver left a notice of failed delivery, without ringing the doorbell. Jeez! I just called Canpar and gave them an earful. They are paging the driver to re-deliver. We will see what happens.

edit: nope...they wouldn't send the driver back. unbelievable. They paged the driver and he said he was too far away. Canpar will be getting some nasty emails from me.

I've had some sh***y service with Canpar too.
My 1911 was supposed to be delivered on a friday, according to the tracking informations.
The morning, since the tracking informations were not updated (as usual), I called to confirm that it would in fact be delivered this day, since I had a lot if things to do that day, and I did not want to wait home for nothing if it was not to be delivered. The lady confirmed me that it was in fact out for delivery and that it would be delivered before 6pm. at 5:30, still nothing, so I called them back, and she said she would call me back in a few minutes. At 6:00 no delivery and no call back, so I called again, and she told me she could not reach the warehouse because it was closed since 5pm (she could have said it when I called at 5:30). I then asked her where was my package since it was supposed to be on the delivery truck, and she told me she had no idea where it was, and that I would have to wait until monday, and call back to have them look for it. It turned out that on friday, it was still in transit somewhere in another province far away!!
So not only did I wasted my day waiting for a package that never came even though they confirmed me it was out for delivery, but also they were not competent enough to tell me where it was. I don't know if it's just me, but having a pistol registered under my name and having a shipping company tell you they ignore where it is, made me a little nervous!

YIPPEE KAY YAY muthaluvas! Guess what showed up today :dancingbanana:

For the record, ordered October 25 4:45pm, arrived today October 31, around 3:45pm. Six days. (I believe my phone call to the CFO might have helped? I dunno.) Thank you Mr CanAmmo, and thank you Mr CFO for getting that transferred with the minimum of time.

Not sleeping tonight, no sirree! Cleanin' time's here. Emptied all the ammo out into an ammo can... pretty good looking ammo can, heavy too

ETA: I can also say that the updating of my order's status via email was hugely appreciated! From receipt of order, to confirmation of payment, to initiation of transfer, to confirmation of transfer approval and consequent shipping...bang on the money.

I will buy from Canada Ammo again. Seamless!
