Blow Up USSR, Nuclear Apocalypse

I don't doubt there exists such an app. However it makes your phone as much a Geiger counter as it would make my SKS into a big screen TV.

You bet your ass it does. See 762mm's post above.

The vehicles refered to are contaminated with radioactive particles. That's why the Russians abandoned them. There was no way to safely decontaminate them because the cleanup crews would be killed by the radiation. My guess would be that leaving them to rot in that junkyard was the only viable choice. In a thousand years the radioactive elements will have decayed enough to be safe give or take.

The Russians are pretty smart about radiation. They found out the hard way, and they are one of the two countries in the world who have done more testing and research with nuclear and radioactive materials than anyone else by an order of at least 1000 to one.

And so you can be assured that the rifles that were contaminated were also scrapped. If the Russinas were willing to scrap billions of dollars worth of helicopters and other high tech military gear due to radioactive contamination, do you think they'd keep the ccontaminated rifles in circulation? Scrap a million dollar chopper but keep using a $100 rifle? Really?

I've been to that helicopter graveyard. If I recall correctly it's swarming with bandits and zombies. Vodka does help with the radiation, at least if you're playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

Such an excellent series, whenever I see pictures of Chernobyl or Pripyat I jump up and say "I killed zombies there!" Or "I got chased by mutant dogs through a radioactive hotspot and whirlygig anomaly and had to chug vodka to stay alive!"

German U-boat scrap "low background" steel was useful for making Geiger counters and similar devices, because it wasn't contaminated by Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Steel made post Hiroshima will be slightly contaminated.

That's probably the most sensible explanation i heard so far.

I could just imagine the counter at customs when the containers were being off loaded...
Vodka Fine...
Ammo Fine...
SkS ALARM!!! CALL THE DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY ASAP!
gewehr76 SkS is here and it's radio active like him.
LoL!!!!

Yes thanks god for blissfull ignorance and hope its only gewehr76's SKS is radioactive. Better yet let's ask blood donors that got HIV from donating blood, how this could have happened? See what they say?
In life there three kinds of people
People that make things happen, people that watch things happen and then there is people that wonder what happened?
Which one are you?
