we must have different opinions on "very nice" to come in under the price of an RFB with glass and ammo. I bought the RFB because it was a cheaper hunting alternative to buying another sauer, blaser, heym, etc.
What's wrong with a steyr scout? optics are stagnant price whatever you put on your rfb can also go on the scout. The scout is a less expensive, arguably more reliable, almost certainly more accurate, and has a delightful set trigger and weighs 6.6lbs vs 8.1lbs, and is a couple hundred bucks cheaper, also has a built in bipod(although how good this bipod is I'm not too sure, you can mount a good bipod nonetheless), simpler takedown, requires no gas system adjustments(chamber a round, lock bolt, shoot, unlock bolt, pull back, repeat), or mag filing.
Again I'm really not trying to start a fight, but I do have to wonder why the rfb. You want it because you like how it looks I really can't argue that. That's personal preference and you are entitled to be wrong, just kidding haha, it's 100% your call and no one can tell you otherwise, but as for the actual performance merits I'm not too convinced. It's an expensive rifle, when I fork over that kind of money for a rifle I expect it to work right off the bat.
Different people, different opinions I guess. As long as you are happy, I'm happy for you. My opinion, I will probably get into hunting eventually, and unless their qc sh*ts the bed, I will get myself a nice steyr scout with a nice optic on it. Again, not trying to start a fight, just trying to see the line of reasoning behind it.
