Any idea what a mauser t- gewehr 13.2mm worth in say very good functional condition, i know the blue book values them around 10k but i have been watching a few auctions in the states and some have had a starting bid of 20-25k....

It would all depend on if the rifle is in the USA or Canada . there half the price here in Canada. if your lucky . last one I seen sold for $1500 in Edmonton
10 years ago.

No real recent benchmark in Canada. Its a lot of hassle to make ammo as well.

It also depends on a lot of factors. Originality, matching numbers, etc etc.

.
One of the Legions in Ontario a while ago wanted to raise money for a wheelchair ramp, so they got the idea of selling one on an Antique TV show where there were four dealers bidding against themselves. The top bid was $1200 but the Legion needed $2000 for the ramp, so these four wonderful, generous Dealers, to show what nice people they were, ponied up another $200 each to show their magnificence and charity in helping the Legion.

What a bunch of--H:S:--on their part.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe it wasn't functional and was in pretty rough shape

I was offered a complete one in working order for $6,000.00 a couple of years ago. I could of bought another incomplete one for $800.00, it was missing the bolt and bipod.

Compared to what other guns are bringing (never mind the EE), 5-10k would seem to be a fair price, especially compared to the prices of Garands, Johnsons, various Dewats, and fabbed up snipers that are going for insane prices. By comparison these rifles must be fairly priced up over 5k, especially in the world of 1-2k Brownings and Remingtons. Prices have moved on, it isn't 1972 anymore.
The other element about these guns in the US market is they transcend the milsurp collectors market as an appealing anomaly. These guns are huge caricatures of rifles that appeal across the gun collecting world, having an appeal to people who could care less about some oddball Mausers made for the Prince of Xanadu, or some other hard core collectors wet dream. As such you are not just competing with 'collectors' but people who want a comically huge gun to awe their buddies.

If so, that was not mentioned on the show. However, it would marginally justify the very low price given.

I thought it was a dewat, but my brain turned off when they showed the 'round' they said went with it. The price was low, but I do believe it was non-functioning.

Forgive the side track, but for those in this end of the market EFD rifles has a WW1 BSA Sniper for sale in Australia, Aldis scope, reproduced mounts, otherwise all complete for just under $8K Aus.

Thanks for all the help! If anyone has any links or articles they want to share or has anything they would like to sell involving this gun or ammo please pm me.

My Grandpa brought a cartridge from one back from WWI. It's sitting on my display case now. Apperently more than a few shoulders were dislocated when they used that thing.

Only a steel butt plate between you and that recoil too. Still, I would love to fire one and see what type of penetration you can get with the round.

Has anyone been able to find documented evidence, perhaps first hand German accounts, of using these rifles in battle ?
