It's tough living in the North!

Tried to find the news articles or any kind of evidence to back this but no luck. I spent several years in Armstrong Ontario and one year (winter of 95 or 96)was particularly weather-news worthy. Our coldest ambient temperature was -61 C and +41 C all in the span of 12 foul months.
Those kind of cold temperatures are very humbling experiences....ice fog, exhaust from vehicles staying at eye level, metal exceptionally brittle, material of my coat cracking just bending my arm, fully winter kitted up inside a "warm" vehicle. Not much to do except try to stay warm.
Seems I remember the winter of 1995 and carrying on into the early months of 1996, as being a real doozy in Southern Saskatchewan too.

Good stuff Ted!

Growing up, my Mom made first rate kidneys at least once a month.

That's the one thing I hate about hunting moose later in the season is the liver being bad. Seems like it's been a few years since I've had a good feast of liver 'n onions.

Simple recipe: snowshoehare baked in the oven with garlic butter & red wine, & Club House spicy pepper medley seasoning
Side of boiled BC golden spuds, with lightly fried in olive oil; red peppers, onion, tomato.

Served with a glass of Two Oceans red wine.....

Yeah, see now I've got to dust off my rabbit gun; that just looks too good to do otherwise!

Cold? What cold?

Great thread you started Ted. Love the pictures, your meals look delicious. I'v come to the opinion that you are very happy with your life in the north but you would adapt to any location with enthusiasm, that's the type of person you are. Good on you. Mike.

Ted.........I told you before to stop that, you're going to have every avid hunter and fisherman moving to the Yukon and ruin it for the rest of us, who have all our little secret sheep, bison and moose spots as well as our productive little fishing spots. They'll be overrun with glassy eyed hunters and fishermen who had no inkling of how great the Yukon was until YOU told them...........So stop it right now............MODS LOCK THIS THREAD, PLEASE.........;):D

I've been telling them how terribly cold the winters are and how there's no game left and all our waters are polluted..............You're shooting me in the foot here Ted, c'mon...........

You must be thinking of running for politics Ted, trying to load the voting population with like minded people so you can win with a huge margin............:p:p
