Accuracy International New Models Revealed

Ah, ya beat me to it! I was just turning the pricelist into .jpg

So the AW is not on the pricelist? Is that it then for AW? My God. Crazy British fools. I predicted this is the thread about them killing the AE. I didn't think it had already happened though. They are going to "inovate" their way right out of a business in very short order. They went bankrupt about 8-9 years ago, and now they seem to be doing their darndest to go for a repeat. Want an AI rifle? ...get one while you can.

My battlecry.... "A... W... For... Evv... ahhhh!" :)

Well the AT is an AW. Just with a few extras.

But you are right. Yours with those stock sides is bar far the best looking one. And it's the one I would choose over any other.
I just have to find one at a reasonable price. Especially as I could get an AT with the s&b for less than $8k

Ghostie, why would you think AI is heading for bankruptcy again? It's largely an unfounded comment. Their new product line arguably will rejuvenate interest in AI products in general. The new AT is set to be even more popular than the outgoing AE. That could only mean good things for the future of AI.

I see AI has plans to expand availability of its AICS chassis line to include Tikka T3's. Another, good idea. I wish they would include Howa1500/Weatherby Vanguard at some point as well.

Continued product improvement and innovation will only serve to benefit AI as a whole.

I think it is important to remember that AI may be able to sell their new rifles at a lower cost due to a simplified process/smaller product line. Before they had to run lines for the AE, AW and the Az. If the receivers are the same (or at least more similar) there could be economies of scaled that did not exist before (for example they have the AX receiver and then the AX PSR receiver where as before they had AX, AE, AW, and AX PSR). There are lots of items now that are much better than they used to be due to advancements in technology and manufacturing processes, maybe AI is just starting to take advantage of this.

Since none of us have handled one yet I think this type of speculation is not too helpful, reviews will be out soon enough and we will know for certain where these products lie in terms of quality. I will agree with Ghostie on one thing though, the AW (in my opionion) is what made everyone want an AI in the first place so getting rid of it does seem odd to me. With that being said though I think they said in the press release that you can buy thumbhole stocksides for the AT so at least the look could be preserved.

I agree ghost. They shouldn't have changed from the old style aw.
But from what I've read the AT is an AW with new skins.

I do however think I'm going to liquidate most of my other firearms to get an AW in the exact spec I want.

Ive decided I want one of them more than all my other stuff all together.

Guys the AT is available with optional thumbhole stocksides. You can swap between the pistol grip panels and the thumbhole panels. I am also willing to bet that if you could find some old style skins they would pop right on to the new AT.

All this AT seems to be is an AW with an lower profile folding stock hinge, taller pic rail, a new NV bracket (which you should be able to unbolt from the chassis) and quick loc barrel system.

14th January 2014 Options and Accessories include:
•Folding stock using AI’s battle proven hinge system.
•20”, 24”and 26”Quickloc match grade barrels, plain or threaded for muzzle brakes and suppressors.
•Standard or tactical threaded muzzle brake to fit AI suppressor.
•Night vision mount with STANAG 4694/Mil Std 1913 rail.
•Side mounted STANAG 4694/Mil Std 1913accessory rails using AI’spatent pending KeySlot™ accessory mounting system.
Thumbhole stock-sides.
•Bipod and a rear butt spike (available mid 2014)

The one thing they should do is start making the old stocksides again though, they do look way better than the new ones.

The thumb hole stock sides are on wolverines price list for $66.

But I bet old skins won't exactly fit because there's a spot on the new stock to bolt on the butt spike. And the front must have at least an extra hole for barrel removal.

Also on the list it says old folder uses 10 screws. New ones use 9 for the skins. So must be some differences in how it bolts on.

They are the exact same skins they have been using on the AW the last few years. Yes they drilled a hole for the Quick Loc and cut a step up forward for the NV bracket. These pistol grip skins you are seeing now were also an option on the AW for the last 2 years.

On a related note, to make it look like the AW, that NV bracket is listed as an option so don't order it on your rifle. The pic rails, old or new will come off the receiver. Its a pain in the a## as they are bolted and epoxied but it has been done on SH. Guess what's underneath the pic rail on my 2012 rifle? The dovetail mount! I'm willing to bet its still underneath the rail of that AT rifle.

Nope. They have thumbhole skins and pistol grip skins. On the new 2014 parts list.

Seems like pistol is default now. Thumbhole is the option. A reversal of last few years.

Still not the classic looking skins. But at least the thumbhole looks better and closer to original.

Nope, I already had to deal with this on my 2012 AW. The new thumbhole skins (look at ghosties pics above) have a thinner section that goes from the bottom of the handgrip to the rear stock. This requires a shorter bolt. There are 9 long bolts and 1 short bolt. the old ones just have 10 long bolts. This is why I had a bolt missing from my rear stock panels until my AI order came in which contained more spare long bolts.

Well that's good. Seems more and more that the AT is just the AW in fancy dress.

I don't know why you guys are pissin' and moanin' about buying something now that you had 20 years to do so already. If AI thought there was an actual market for it don't you think they'd have the AW positioned as a stand alone model in their line-up that appealed to guys who wanted them? Clearly, they feel their sales focus needed to be oriented towards the future instead of living in the past.

Exactly. I would put money on it that I could make one look like an AW by omitting the NV rail from my build order, removing the pic rail from the receiver (difficult but possible) and bolting on a pair of old school skins.

Are you saying that the AT comes with the NV bracket? I thought it was an option.

Just have the fun of finding the skins.

And as for why we are moaning. Mainly because I'm a fool and put off buying one, only to then hear recently they are done.
My fault yes, I've had plenty of opportunity to buy one.

So now I'm going to get rid of lots of other toys if necessary to get exactly what I want.
