Accuracy International New Models Revealed

Just have the fun of finding the skins.

And as for why we are moaning. Mainly because I'm a fool and put off buying one, only to then hear recently they are done.
My fault yes, I've had plenty of opportunity to buy one.

So now I'm going to get rid of lots of other toys if necessary to get exactly what I want.

I understand, however if I were in the same boat I would go for the new AXMC. I did not like the original AX and referred to it as "the pressure washer" but this new one with the excellent psr stock looks phenomenal and its design features make sense. I seriously doubt that rifle would ever disappoint you.

Pricing for the AICS ?

I'm sure it wouldn't. But my dream gun list basically matches what I used in my work in the uk.
An MP5. A G36, and the occasional play with the AI AW.
One is prohib, the second may be an option soon, the 3rd I can get. So for sentimental reasons the aw wins.

I'm on the fence about getting a AX308MC. Certainly expensive and I would sell a few things to get it but I think it would last a few lifetimes. I really want to get one of the Bartlien 260rem barrels that AINA has down in the US.

Can't decide if going the AI route is better than getting a custom made, even if it's in an AI chassis. Eg a Surgeon Scalpal or a GAP. The AI is a little more $$, but certainly has a bomb proof reputation.

^ Go for it man! Nothing quite prepares you for the feeling you get when you take an AI out of the shipping box. It was like holding a piece of Artillery and I was grinning from ear to ear.

I am also willing to bet that if you could find some old style skins they would pop right on to the new AT.

Really? Where? You weren't able to find the set of green skins you wanted, and had to settle for a tan set you found new-old-stock in Germany. At the time you were even willing to look at buying AICS stocksides and trying to retrofit them to your AW. I feel your pain man, but these parts just aren't out there. crunchiespg isn't going to have a hope in hell of finding the oldstyle stocksides, and the only thing you have been able to order from AI (for some time now) is the new style.

Guess what's underneath the pic rail on my 2012 rifle? The dovetail mount!

Did you take the rail off your AW? Ay, caramba. Brave man. Why? Did you really want to use the folding rear sight or something? How did it turn out? Pics?

Haha, I said if;) There are two businesses in the US that still have old stocksides but will not ship or allow export, soooo......yeah;) It was pure luck when I found that pair while on vacation (they still have stock incidentally, but again no ship out of Deutschland).

I did not and do not have any intentions of removing my pic rail, but the dovetail is under the pic rail of all AW and AX receivers. There are guys who have done it but you really have to know what you're doing as they are epoxied then secured with bolts.

AI is not going to cut any corners, poriod. The receivers are all still made the same way, same materials, same machines, same heat treatment. FYI the receivers used for the AX 308 are the exact same as the AW, just with a 6 locking lug bushing installed. I am sure we will see this new AX rifle in military service in the near future, give it some time they are only just coming out.

If anyone doubts this email Accuracy International UK directly and ask them, they are pretty good with responding to questions. They answered my email within a few days.

Cheers for that. It's hard to do on my phone. Are you able to do the same for the parts list too?

That AT really is a bargain compared to before. All the positives of the AW for thousands less.

If I can't find an AW I think that's the way I'll go. Get a folding one with tactical muzzle brake.

And right now wolverine has the 3-12x50 s&b on a decent sale too.

The AT is essentially a tweaked AW. I think why the price is lower is because all the R&D costs of developing the AW was already paid off by the sales of the AW. The AT is basically an AW with a redone stock. Which can't be that much R&D. Makes sense to me. I have yet to see anything that makes me question AI build quality. Them and DSR in my opinion build the BEST sniper rifles.

The AX is roughly the same price as it was.

Two business in US they still have it!

I did it :p ... and it's all your fault. Really excited. AX308MC on order now... and a buddy is probably going to pick up a 338. Good times.

Now the wait.... and looks like I'm not the only one! Wolverine had quite a few orders already. Going to be a lot of lucky new AI owners out there soon.

Did they give a timeframe? What colour did you order?
I'm tempted. But I'm holding off for an AW.

3-5 months is what Guy said, but they already have models on order - they've known since August and put in a lot of orders. Mine's pretty standard - pale brown and a 24" barrel. I might see it sooner, we'll see. US dealers are already saying demand is going to exceed supply. I was working a build out with GAP that was going to take 10 months, so by all accounts it looks like AI is going to beat that.

Congratulations!

So many companies making PSR style rifles these days, they all look the same. The AW looks so classically cool nowdays. I'm getting nostalgic.
