Wow, heated thread.
I've taken 3 TDSA courses with my SERPA (Glock 17), lots of "loaded draws" during those courses. Personally, *I* never had an issue, and like the holster.
That being said, I think my club won't allow them for IDPA, so I'll be getting another/different holster when I take my IDPA courses.
I tried a few yesterday at a local shop, I think there was a Blackhawk and something else. I quite like the thumb-depress mechanism, but it has (in my opinion) a drawback when compared to the SERPA. With the SERPA, when I grip the firearm to un-holster, my grip is "set", I don't need to adjust it AT ALL when moving to fire.
I found, while admittedly just trying it in the aisle of the store with their display (solid plastic) Glock, the Blackhawk with the thumb release didn't leave me with a proper grip on the gun, and I had to adjust my grip when I brought it up.
I'll need to find somewhere in the Golden Horseshoe (Toronto/Hamilton) area that has several holsters on display so I can try them.
So yeah, add me to the "SERPA Worked Great For Me" crowd, but I'm looking for suggestions on other Level 2 holsters.
