Turmoil in Ukraine and prices on SKS and Ammo

The Ukrainian flag is being proudly flown on Parliament Hill today to demonstrate our solidarity with the people of Ukraine.

Le drapeau ukrainien flotte fièrement sur la Colline du Parlement en signe de notre solidarité avec la population de l'Ukraine.

So.....when Ukrainian rebel s are taking out coalition forces with the surplus SKS's they have....I wonder how long the RCMP will wait before reclassification of sks's takes place?

I didn't support that either.

I’m glad to hear that. There were a lot of countries which didn’t support that, and yet the States didn’t give a flying f**k about it and did it anyway. Now think about it - a small country like Iraq, thousands miles away from US posed an imminent threat to them? And now Russia – a country which is sharing a border with Ukraine (whose pro-American, anti-Russian, ultra nationalistic opposition to the officially elected government forcefully and illegally took over Ukrainian government) simply announced they may send the troops to protect the 60% of the Russian population in Crimea if necessary. Just that statement (no troops were sent yet) caused all hell to break loose in the western world. What about the innocent civilians that US is killing with their drones to this very day? Russia has not opened fire on any civilians or protesters. For Russia this new self proclaimed government means another NATO military base placed even closer to them. If you were the president of Russia what would you do?

Its all about the oil and natural gas supply to Europe and the deep water port for Russia, that the Chinese are investing in., Neither side gives a rats arse about Ukrainians. The people should tell both sides to get stuffed, close the port and turn off the pipes but unfortunately it will likely end with a divided country and potential for a new cold war.

My only problem with your post is ignorance (aka, a big problem). It reads like something from RT (one of the many propaganda machines of Putin), and that in and of its own is troubling.

On top of invading a sovereign nation without provocation or cause (seeing as people in Crimea have been living peacefully for many years, both under Yanukovich and every other president before him, Yushchenko could have been considered "ultra-national").

Not a single person I know from Simferopol or Sevastopol was afraid of anything until the Russian special forces showed up (the civilian clothing initially didn't fool anyone who has served in the army).

Long story short, it's all a giant crock of bs.

I could keep going, but this really isn't the forum for it, and I apologize to Westrifle for using their forum in such a fashion.

US or Russia (or any other country for that matter), invasions are never right. Also, it's kinda funny how Putin denounced his soldiers currently there (even after many of them admitted to being Russian, if the full Russian gear and Russian military trucks weren't enough).

Razer, your opinion about Crimea, "invasion" or RT certainly has its place but is as subjective as any other. Like it or not, the overwhelming majority of folks in Crimea want to split away from Ukraine and happily support whatever is going on there right now. Hard to argue this fact.
But yes, this is not the appropriate forum for this to be discussed, I agree.

I believe that if we give the Russians just a bit of the Ukraine, then we will have "Peace in our Time"! Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm................ seems I heard that phrase before (sarcasm off)

sorry, but you too sounds like somebody who is not exactly open to ALL realities in Ukraine.
The reason why ALL Ukrainians were ok with ALL previously elected presidents is because they were just that - more or less democratically elected presidents.
Everybody had to live with the results of the lections.

This time it is VERY different - the normal democratic process was COMPLETELY subverted by protesters in Kiev, therefore the rights, wishes, and aspirations of the eastern part of Ukraine were completely IGNORED therefore current people in control in Kiev have no legitimacy!

I am appalled at how western powers immediately accepted new government in Kiev. The reason for such eagerness is because this new government is pro big banks and pro western (pro-western is really becoming a dirty word). I believe if the new government was pro-Russian and all other variables were exactly the same, we would be inundated with stories and videos of brutality of clandestinely Kremlin sponsored fascist mobs destroying Ukrainian democracy. The hypocrisy of the hole thing is really staggering.

Western power learned that you don't need to invade the country in order to destroy it and to rule it.
All you need is lots of money, lost of propaganda, an already existing conflict and it does not take much for the people to start fighting each other.
Western powers learned that and Putin did not so he is a hitler.

Give me lots of money, lots of airtime and before everybody knows French Canadians and English Canada will be at each other throat.
And if you think "this would never happed here" - you are delusional.

holly crap, I have just watched the video. The last two minutes are the most important. The Estonian foreign minister says that snipers were not ordered by Yanukovitch, he sais the same snipers were shooting protestors as well as police! This minister actually say that snipers were ordered by the new government and now the new government does not want to investigate those shooting!

I'm sorry, the realities of Ukraine is what I was raised in, pre-1991 and after as well.

The normal democratic process was not completely subverted, as you'll recall, the politicians at the time passed through legislation that forbade peaceful protests, this is what sparked the remainder of the events (the beatings, the disappearances and the deaths).

Although you may have missed some of the commentaries from the protests, most people by the end of them didn't quite care about joining the EU, they just wanted to get rid of the corrupt government. I would highly suggest you look up the videos of Yanukovich's mansion etc. The corruption was rampant, nobody can deny that. What's absolutely absurd is that the same thing is happening in Russia, except Putin has everyone so scared internally that nobody will protest or even try to do anything about it (sad more than anything else when the elderly pensions are cut and orphanages get shut down due to lack of funding). This is a universal problem in any post USSR country, I unfortunately don't think too many people would argue about this either.

ALL of that aside:

An invasion is still just that, an invasion.

To get back on topic:

Get your SKSs and ammo ASAP.

It is very highly unlikely that we will see more SKSs from Ukraine until the situation there is resolved.

MAAYYYBE! OR maybe while all this crap is going on, some containers of guns and ammo can be slipped out the back door, as is usually the case and maybe a better deal can be had because the dealers might think its coming to an end so get what they can get while they can get it!! Just thought I would throw out the flip side of the muddled coin!
