Here is my latest find, I don't know much about it...
Its a Tula MЦ-12 ( MT-12 ) Olympic/Match rifle.
Year of manufacture is 1964.
Its in original condition and it is well preserved.

Its a very ###y russian rifle !

The double set trigger pull is so light, its... hmm... there is no word to describe the trigger pull !

Before someone ask, its not for sale ! ;)

There is only a problem with it, the previous owner told me there is an adjustment problem with the elevation.
It took me only a minute to figure what was the problem ( see last pic )
The peep sight is off the side rail and its canted towards the rear of the rifle.
Not sure how to remove it as I don't want to break something.
I will figure it out when I have some spare time.
EDIT : sight problem solved, see post # 6 http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/foru...e-report-!?p=12855807&viewfull=1#post12855807

I hope you enjoy, these don't come up too often...

That rifle just looks right to me. It might give my 12/15 BSA some compatition on who gets to get out of the safe for a range day if I owned it. Now I have a new rifle to search for that in never knew I needed. She is a beauty.

Exquisite!!! if you paid any less than 850, you stole it, and be happy!!! REALLY REALLY Happy.

Similar to the Walther 'Running Boar' Rifles. Congrats, if it shoots as good as it looks, a keeper for sure.

Post some groups when you have time.

So you got a great deal then! What are they worth?

Cheers
Jay

Yeah I had a gr8 deal !

To be honest with you, I don't know what they worth.
I would not have missed that opportunity to buy such a quality and rare rifle.

There is not much information on these *coldwar* rifles, maybe an expert will chime in.
I also doubt that there is many around up here in Canada.

I'm pretty sure its a Tula MU-12 Olympic/Match rifle.
Year of manufacture is 1964.

There is only a problem with it, the previous owner told me there is an adjustment problem with height.

@ parksb2...Why don't you remove the links to the pictures when you quote the OP.

That trigger in these things is a nightmare to work on, build like a Swiss watch...but, a very nice find

The trigger looks the same as the Vostok Strella that i owned. Once set, it's remarkably light. Have fun.

From the very few pics of a Strela that I can find on the net, you are right the trigger looks very similar.

The previous owner was thinking it was a Vostok but when I saw the *T* on the receiver, I was suspecting it was a Tula.
When I searched for Tula and MU-12, it was pretty easy to confirm that it was not a Vostok but a Tula.
Barreled action and trigger looks similar but the stock are differents.
I think the Vostok had a small edge over the Tulas but hey, it still an Olympic grade rifle !

I will fire this rifle only 2-3 times a year, I will leave it as is, I don't want to *play* with any adjustment on it.
I will just give it a good cleaning and that's it.

You will really be impressed when you test that rifle. And yes, the set trigger pull is....well you can breath on it for it to fire..... :)

I have a similar one with thumbhole stock but a different model. I believe mine has a 29" bbl.

The only issue with mine was that it was from an estate and the butt hook was misplaced. I got an Anschutz hook and a skilled machinist to make me an adaptor plate - not easy since the darn thing has to be curved with that dovetail in place for it to move up and down. The hook is for standing position of course. They are supposed to come with a flat plate for prone as well. These rifles are Olympic quality and intended for position shooting.

There is also supposed to be a set of sight inserts and spare parts. People end up getting these misplace from the rifle and when they die of course the family has no clue about what goes with what or even that something is missing. I do not recall now the size of the inserts, but I believe I found others that fit. Cannot recall now as I have not shot it for years.

Mine has a perfect bore and luckily the bluing was good even though it was dry as a f*** so much so that the rear sight adjustment was frozen. No rust just dust and dried old oil it appeared to be. Some Kroil for a few days and it was working fine with nice click adjustments.

As for price, well I paid top dollar at auction and that was around '08. The price was around $1300 all in by the time I got it to the door.

There have been a few MU12 listed for sale on here over the years and the asking price has always been 900-1k. There was one listed that was mint with all the accessories a few years ago. Would have liked it but a guy can only have so many guns right??? The MU12 is a slightly less expensive model than the one I picked up.

Unfortunately, I don't have any spare parts nor front sight inserts for it.

I would like to find a few different inserts.
I will measure the one I have and search if I could find some that will fit.

Thanks for your input in this thread, that was entertaining and interesting !

It's indeed a very nice target rifle. Although, it is NOT the MU-12 but MC-12. The letter after M is a Cyrillic "C". It also says: "Made in USSR".

its was my first rifle when i was a kid since 10yo to 15 back in USSR , 500 shots 3 times a week , on 50 meters i got minimum 94 from 100 points , very presicious with the same dioptrical sights . Good luck , nice piece !!!!!
