☭ My new Russian beauty ☭ >>> Now with range report !

When I bought the Lee Shaver sights for my BSA the only ones found useful were the middle three in the top row (see Ben777's October 31 entry).
The rings were too thin so all three were stacked to provide a thicker ring.

After getting the set from eBay, I use a clear with black ring and that works at 100 and 50 yards or meters.

Not a bad idea !

They also sells a card full of the *middle three*.

Very good shooting ben777lemay.

I have both the Shaver and Slimline inserts for my various rifles. Have not had time to experiment a lot with them though.

Yes, those Rusky rifles will certainly shoot well. I do not pretend to be a great shot and will never ever be able to achieve the level of accuracy my father did. I recall he shot a ragged hole at 50yds with my Ruskie rifle back when I first got it and he was in his 70s then! His eyes were better than mine until the end of his life and his trigger squeeze much more relaxed and smooth until the stroke took away the feeling in the tip of his trigger finger. Of course he shot a 22 from the time he was like 10 and told me he could not count the number of 22shorts he used to exterminate European sparrows around the farmyard and off the barn peak of the barn roof and always being on target so as not to put a hole in the roof or that would have been the end of his shooting career. :)

And he outshot me at trap/skeet as well.....reflexes like a trap compared to my lagging reflexes....LOL

I just enjoy shooting and try to improve. ;)

Last summer I also acquired a nice example of Izhmash CM-2, not as glamourous as my my MЦ-12 but still a very nice rifle.

Nice MTs-12.

The grooves cut into the forestock Im pretty sure are not original, and the 'scroll' shape at the end appears to have been cut off and obviously refinished after. Not a big deal as most of these rifles were modified in one way shape or form during their lifetime.

BTW, the rifle should not be stored or transported with the rear sight bridge installed. It can get bent quite easily.

The knurled screw at the rear bottom of the sight can be backed out and them pressed in to disengage the threads, so the sight will lift right off.

before you do that, paint a little stripe across the sight marks with White Out, then draw a line across with a pencil. When you re-install the bridge, just line up the pencil line.

Probably ! The others MT-12 I've saw also have some checkering on the forend...

Here is 2 that was offered to me last year.

First one is a complete kit as it came from factory with sling, sight inserts in box, instructions, etc...
Markings on this one is *made in USSR* and mine is marked *CCCP* so I'm sure they have not been made the same year.

This one is a missing parts rifle that was completed using other russian rifle parts, still a very nice example.

Do you have any leads on Mts-12 "MU12" parts? Anyone with a parts gun?

Not really... Last year a CGN member requested to borrow a part from my MЦ-12 to take measurements and then make a replacement part for his rifle.
I was glad to help him, especially because he's a great guy and he is also a very helpful and active guy on CGN.

What part(s) do you need exactly ?

Also, I have tried some of that Vostok 'match' ammo and was less then impressed.... Perhaps my rifles just dont like it?

Haven't tried the Russian ammo yet but honestly, I wanted some mostly for display/collection.
This summer, I will perform extended testing with different ammo in my MЦ-12 and in my Izhmash CM-2, I will post results here as well.

Interesting info but is it for the CM-2 or the MT-12 ?

I need to find a nice fellow that has one of those MTs12 (MU12) wooden palm rests and is willing to send it to me to copy!
