☭ My new Russian beauty ☭ >>> Now with range report !

Great shooting with the peeps!

Thanks !
But to be honest, the rifle is sooo easy to shoot !
The weight of the rifle is just ridiculous, it sure help to keep it steady and the double set trigger is really outstanding too.

Makes me think that I should try the front rest with my other scoped rimfire rifles instead of a bipod.

This rifle also draw alot of attention at the range ;)

I added a couple pics in the Original Post...

I also found some infos on RC ( Rimfire Central ) about compatible sight inserts.
Parker Hale inserts should fit with very minor modifications to the *tab/ears*.
I compared the dimensions of the PH inserts with mine and the dimensions from my globe sight and it should fit pretty well.

There is a company that makes a complete card of those inserts ( Lee Shaver's Gunsmithing) :

I will try to buy one directly from Lee Shaver's because Brownells is out of stock and must be special ordered.
I will let you know how it turns out...

Personally, I like Slimline sight inserts better... But I'd be hard press to tell you to get them, I believe Ray McDougall is out of the business

I ordered a sheet of the Lee Shaver's inserts yesterday.

Haven't found anything recent about Slimline inserts.
I will keep an eye on Ebay.

Thanks for give me other options !

It looks like the front sight is on backwards compared to the traditional meathod, but it looks that way in the magazine picture too. You are lucky if you can find inserts, there are so many variations, especially for European rifles. I actually got lucky and got some for my Swede FSR rifle from the very nice people across the street at the Manitoba Provincial Rifle Association air rifle range across the street from my place.

Now to try to find some for my Elit front sight.

Beautiful rifle! Looks like she found a good home after all these years.

Thanks !

You best bet is Ebay. I saw alot of Swedish target rifle related items for sale on Ebay over the years.
I had a very nice M96 FSR and a CG63 a couple years ago and I loved these rifles.
The exchange rate still suck tho...
Good luck with your search !

Have you tried it on this target at 100 yards?

Shaver also has a series of inserts that are just circles . . . In order to make the circle more defined I stacked the three circles on top of each other.

I haven't tried at 100y yet but I'm sure to do so, I will need a smaller apperture insert.
I find the one I have to be a bit too big than I want for shooting at 50y.

I found the round only inserts : http://stores.leeshavergunsmithing.com/parker-hale-round-only-front-sight-insert-card/

I ordered the card pictured in my previous post.
I will test the different types inserts and if I prefer the round type inserts, I will order the round only card.
Shipping to Canada is only $3 USD.

I guess the front sight inserts is just a matter of personal preferences.

I received the Lee Shaver sight inserts a couple weeks ago.
It took only a week to receive them.
These are 15mm Parker Hale inserts.

They needed some slight tweaking to fit the globe sight.
*Ears* were 2.5mm high so I needed to file them down to 2mm.
It was not too hard, I placed them between 2 metal shims in a vise with smooth jaws.
Then I filed down a little more than .25mm on each side.
I made a small recess in the corners with a triangular file ( thread 60 degree file ).

Maybe I will order the other card with the *round only* inserts.

The fit is really good now, much better than the one that came with the rifle.
Now I can swap the insert without having to sight the rifle again and again.

I also scored a nice set of 15mm Parker Hale Perspex elements on EBay.

I hope to have the time to try the inserts before the winter !

Now I need to make a little wood case for the sight inserts...

This forum really needs a like button or trending function. Those Lee Shaver sight inserts look very nice enough to make even a KISS (keep it simple stupid) believer want to tinker. I suspect the 4 mid weight post would be a fun option for those of use who actually hunt with peep sights. Thanks for sharing this.

Yeah the Lee Shaver inserts are nice. They also make them for the most popular brands of globe sights.

Its a pleasure to show that kind of stuff, this is what this site is all about ( + the EE ) !

Beauty Ben something proud to own congrats

Thanks Silver ! And its really a pleasure to shoot ! Who knows, maybe one day you may have a chance to try it...

I was going to suggest Parker Hale inserts, they fit my MT-12 without any modifications. I mounted a Leup. 36 br scope and with Lapua polar biathlon, five shot groups in the .2 at 50m are common. Piss off my shooting buddies by shooting the staples holding up the targets. Shoots any good ammo, better than most shooters!! Good luck finding a gun case to fit. I use a U.S. army paratroopers rifle bag. Nice find condition looks great!!

My MT-12 fits well in a Allen soft case. I have to remove the *buttstock-hook* as well.

Do you have any pics of your rifle with the BR scope ?

I'm sure with a scope the accuracy is kinda boring ( just too accurate lolll ).

When I bought the Lee Shaver sights for my BSA the only ones found useful were the middle three in the top row (see Ben777's October 31 entry).
The rings were too thin so all three were stacked to provide a thicker ring.
After getting the set from eBay, I use a clear with black ring and that works at 100 and 50 yards or meters.
