You are aware there was a date change? April 29 at Cedar Springs is change to May 19.
Date was changed in the first post and again later on when the news first came out.
The ORA Journal was already at print when we got bumped. We live with the problem that the ORA last in the pecking order for range use.
The ORA website has been updated, but like all ORA events it is best to contact the event organizer a day or 2 before heading to the range.
Still 7 other dates to choose from.
I have a question. I have never shot in competition so forgive my ignorance. I understand that all shots must be under 1 moa at 300 meters. But can they fall anywhere on the target? Or do they have to be in the "V" which I assume is the center of the target.
After each shot the target will be pulled, a shot indicator will be placed in the shot hole and the target will be put back up. Time lapse will be about 5 seconds. A 1 MOA template will be place over the 10 shot group after all shots are fired, regardless of where they hit on the target. A radio call from the Butts Officer will confirm either a pass or fail and how many shots fall into the template. Shots only have to cut the line of the 1 MOA template to be counted as "in". If possible all shot holes will be indicated with white golf tees after the target has been scored by the Butts officer.
I will try for that day as well. I get back from Botswana the weekend before, so it might be tight.
Tom is this going to be an ORA match with 5 goes at 300m for 2 + 10 rounds per relay, and a maximum round count of 60? Will it be scored and recorded, or will it be an ORA practice, with the 1min of angle challenge overlaid for either the match or practice?
Will the Barracks be available Friday night?

It's just a one day normal practice so no barracks on Friday night. Those shooters taking the challenge (non-ORA members) will have 5 chances to shoot their 1 MOA 10 shot group. For everyone else that attends the practice the usual 2-3 to a target, shooting every other relay without trying to wear out the marker.
A 1 MOA overlay will be used to try to get all 10 shots into 1 MOA. Radio confirmed pass or fail and how many shot landed within the 1 MOA circle. All shots will them be indicated with white golf tees so the shooter can see the size of the group.

ORA members can come out and try their luck but there isn't any pay-off except to say "I did it". The point of this exercise is to get non-members out to an ORA event. The cost of the ORA daily guest fee plus the marker/sentry fee is about $75. The carrot that I am dangling is that I pay the fees if they manage to shoot a 1 MOA 10 shot group.
For ORA members that have never shot at Cedar Springs it gives you an excuse to see another range besides Borden, Winona or Kingston.
