10/22 magazine options for a bolt gun guy out of the loop

If your goal is to have a 25 round mag in a 10/22 platform, DLASK Arms in Delta BC builds a TUF 22. The receiver is a cnc machined ruger clone, but the receiver have a slot milled into it so it can take their own proprietary 25 round mag. It only fits the TUF, to fit the Charger you'd need to modify the Charger, which would be illegal. Those mags are 100% legal and after getting the hang of how to load them, they feed really well. https://dlaskarms.com/product/basic-dar-22-22lr-with-od-green-hogue-stock-12-5-matte-blue-sporter/

Option #2 is order one of these Nanuk cases with foam insert from Guard Dog Foam Inserte. It holds 500 rounds and 6 BX10 mags easily. Keeps everything together and works really well.

And both DLASK and Guard Dog are 100% Canadian owned and ran companies!

What's everyone's opinion on the steel lips butler Creek 10 rounder single stack clear mags ? Worth paying a premium for ?

Thanks

PERSONALLY, I never warmed up to the 25 round “banana” mags. Offhand it interfered with my left hand grip and from the bench it
interfered with the bench & bags. I found those small, 3 magazine connector blocks are perfect. (Sorry, I forgot the name but I’m sure one of our advertisers will have them.) The 3 X 10 round mags are clipped together, forming a triangle so you’ve got 30 round capacity that sits close to the stock. It also makes it easier to remove/change a mag because you can grip the lower 2 & pull. You can also load 3 different types of ammo (1 in each mag) if you’re testing a variety.

Alangator also makes a 2-mag version that, while my 10/22 is still under build, really helps me a lot on tandem with Ruger's mag dustcovers. Bonus, I can fit two coupled pairs into a similar space footprint to one assembled Trimag.

For 10rds capacity, I still think the BX-1 are the best.

Yep. I get the appeal of the little extended 10rd bc mags, but I'd rather a reliable ruger one.
The bc would have to be priced the same or lower then the bx magazines to consider one.

I also had BC mags jam while feeding and cause a round to go off while still in the magazine.

Okay, here's a couple pics of a Duomag and Trimag assembly using 2/3 Ruger BX-1's in my Harbor Freight cases with my Charger (or what will become it once all parts arrive) under construction.

Disassembled in small-parts organizer case...

...and assembled. Note that the Duomag is almost exactly half of the "bounding box" square taken up by the Trimag. Triples are quicker reloading once in the game, but Duos are more volume-efficient.

Dont think they make them anymore, managed to find 2 nos plastic lip ones, hate digging the bx-1 out of the rifle.

I have taken all my bx-1 mags and sanded, filed all to fall out of the rifle when released. They all require a bit of adjustment. Finish off with 1000 grit and your golden.

Just be weary not to make them sloppy. I also work the release face that pushes the sprung mag holder to come out more and offer a bit more of a grip on the mag while installed. Seems to align feeding better as well.

Diamondbacksix, never heard of the “duo’s” but they do look good. I’ll have to try to locate a distributor up here. Thanks.

If you're only ordering one item, shipping costs being more than the item WOULD provoke that reaction... if you're ordering a ton of stuff for $25 shipping to get spread out across that does change the numbers a lot.

Admittedly, I'm a veteran at gaming free or discounted shipping promos... I never order anything from MidwayUSA until they have a "free shipping on orders over $49" coupon and stack things up in my cart to sit and wait for those.

Another option for a “duo” is the “Doublekross” from Tandemkross. I own some and like them. They’re a little tricky to put together though — you’re reassembling the guts of two factory mags into the Tandemkross proprietary body (see video below).

I also have an Alangator Trimag coupler — tried to like it, but not a fan. Heavy and cumbersome, the novelty wears off quick. YMMV.
