just curios , but not including your time , what is parts cost to do this conversion......
and in your opinion......what was hardest to create/alter or what surprises came up to cause delay /difficulty?
what tools were needed.......what tools would have helped........
thanks.......perhaps ill give it a try..........looks fun.

Do the sights actually line up or are they just for show? Looking at the PPS photo's, having the sight mounted to the heatshield appears to be how they were built originally, but for actual use on a Ruger 10-22 I wonder if it might not be better to leave the techsight attached to the barrel and notch the shield to fit around it? Function over form versus form over function...

OK. You need 2x ATI shotgun heatshields. These can be had sometimes for $20, some times for $60+ depending on how hard you look and how long you wait. I got one of the shields cheap off eBay, and one expensive from gunaccessories.com. I was not willing to wait.

1x Ruger 10/22 barrel band with sling swivel. This also adds clamping pressure to the heat shields. $15

1x set of Tech Sights (TSR100) - $60.00

1x thick steel buttplate. It aint no ppsh without being metal! - $20

1x scope rail. This is form over function. I just used it to alter the profile of the receiver. I cut it to work with the Tech Sights. $7

1x Extended mag release

1x 14" Barrel. You could leave a longer barrel, like the factory barrel on or use a .920 barrel. The length is what matters since it has to fit under the heat shield. (various prices)

Other supplies include loctite, amber shellac, JB Weld, and various screws, nuts and bolts. For the heat shield, I had to cut my own screws because the included ones weren't long enough.

The HARDEST thing to do in my opinion was to drill through the stock and attach the receiver to it using nuts and bolts. Those holes are hard to drill right and they got to be spot on!

Good question. The front sight post has to be ground down a bit to compensate for it being moved up. The Tech Sights are adjustable upwards but not downwards (because they are typically set all the way down for 50 yards I think). They work just fine then.

I updated this thread with new pics on the first post. This is the second version I've built that retains the standard stock and receiver mating of the 10/22 thereby eliminating those ugly cross screws!
